No, kids. It's not "urban guerilla art," it's a criminal violation of private fucking property, and you have no goddamned right.

Nothing in that article even remotely referencing "public outrage".

Funny, the article says absolutely nothing about public outrage.

I'm sure when the cops taser UA to death for his various drug-related crimes, his last words will be something about how he completely deserves it.

Because apparently the strict letter of the law is all that matters, and today any basic resistance of authority is punishable by immediate execution. Unless the cops try to search your ass, then you're allowed to kill them?

I don't know, it's hard to keep UA's self-serving nonsense straight lately. :borg:

Yes, I know that. It's a fucking joke. Fair warning: I may start more threads with the words "public outraged" only appearing in my title.

Only in the past year have I come to realize that Uncle Albert believes in authoritarian government.

Perfectly consistent if you're not nitpicking for superficial contradictions.

Any alleged drug use on my part would not cause harm or infringement of rights.

Vandalism of private property by definition implies harm and infringement of rights.

There is such a thing as a victimless crime, but vandalism ain't it. Obedience for the sake of itself has no value, and you would have to distort anything I've said beyond recognition to show me claiming otherwise.

In some cases, yes. I would severely limit the ways government may intrude in peoples' lives, but within those limitations I would be fucking medievel in the consequences I imposed.

Since when has spray-painting graffiti or even running from the police been punishable by death?

So "tagging" is technically a crime - big deal. So is smoking pot, yet Alberta seems to think he's entitled to break those laws on a regular basis. Remember when Alberta used to rant endlessly about how laws were nothing but words on paper that he could choose to disregard if they inconvenienced him and I was the supposed inflexible establishment mouthpiece? But he cheers this kid's death? When did Alberta reinvent himself as Inspector Javert?

So, all private industry has to do, is buy everything, and then no one can use public spaces to communicate.
You're okay with every public outlet being a corporate brainwash?
    I'm not.
No, there comes a time when the just must become outlaws.
Whether this case is such a time, is a separate debate.

Yes, good. You've uncovered my plan.

No matter what sort of revolution against tyranny you envision, what's mine will still fucking be mine, and you may not violate or deface it because you've ginned up a rationalization that permits you to ignore ownership.

    Property is an imaginary idea.
I'll countenance it for people to have roofs over their heads, and personal doodads, but no one gets to own the fucking planet.
    They just don't.

When "mine, mine, mine!!", starts to squeeze me into a little ball, time to hit the reset button, because the machine done broke.

I'll bring it squarely the fuck down to reality for anyone seeking to deprive me of mine. You will respect my rights if you expect me to remain civilized in your precious fucking society. Otherwise, I'm gonna quit my job, stop paying taxes to fund all those "free shit" programs everyone else loves so goddamn much, start shooting people who annoy me and taking what I fucking want.

Recognizing property rights, as an abstract concept is vital to civilization and one of the few things distinguishing us from wild animals.

    :wtf:

OK. You have my permission to intervene in that sale.

Then you get locked up with the rest of the sociopathic scum and the rest of us continue on without your bullshit.
But why hasn't this happened already? Where's the breaking point?

I will admit tagging trains doesn't upset me as much as it should I guess. It gives me something to look at in traffic while I'm waiting for the train to pass by. Permanent structures there's no excuse for.
