Regarding the emoticons, do you guys know what you'd like to keep and what you'd prefer to toss out?

Honestly, the whole smiley thing is such a godawful mess, I almost always type mine out. I don't even know what he have or don't have, and my eyes bleed even thinking about sorting through them.

I guess Mrs. A (if she's still in charge of that) could prune the fifty least-often used smileys, as a start. If the flags are still around, I wouldn't mind gutting those.

Whatever the number, take the middle one, run a search using :itsnamehere: and see if anyone has used it in the last two years, depending on the answer go half way between that and the most or least used. Do that until you get a fair approximation of the line between those used in the last two years and those not and then delete everything below that line.

Agreed. Just my opinion, but we could easily get rid of over half of them, and not really lose anything.

Just don't get rid of that one. It's one of the least-used ones, but because of the clutter, when I want to use it I can never find it or remember the code.

Okay. By the way, deleting these will be a one-at-a-time deal. I will have to delete each smiley, wait for the system to reload, and the scroll back down and delete the next one. It's going to be goddamn tedious. Still, I can do it if you want.

Also, I deleted the dog fucker and tubgirl smilies. I also deleted goatfucker, sheepfucker, and another one fucking something in the ass. Yeah, we had a number of those. So whenever you guys are ready, you can tell me, and I'll start work on it. I can do it over the course of several days so I don't get bogged down.

I suggest mentioning it to the rest of the board and putting it to a vote before lopping off any.

No votes, let's just announce we are doing it. People shouldn't be surprised, and it would also be nice to give some space for folks to mention their favorites for protection, as shooter did with but the question of purging/pruning is an ownership decision. Let's burn those smiles down to size!

Seconded. 1200 goddamn smileys is a frigging long as list, but there are some thst may not be used everyday but serve a purpose like : gaymarriage :

I'm in favor of reducing the list because Xenforo's smiley manager is slow and crappy, and there are no good replacements. 1200 smileys loading into the smiley interface is ridiculous. I'd love to see the list cut to 500 or fewer. Surely we don't need more than 500 smileys.

500 is more than enough.

If there are any special ones that people want, they can save 'em to Photobucket, like I did with the old version of : stfu : and a few others.

I only have a handful of smileys I ever use since the menus are a pain in the butt to navigate. I'm more amazed at learning that we can view edit history, had no idea before this thread.

This. We have so many smilies that the smilies are useless (you can't find the one you want).

I really think that pruning anything not used in the last two years will save anything needed to be saved (especially since a year ago we had a thread where people posted all the smilies they wanted saved).
