This girl is clearly meant to be the progenitor of the key freedom fighter that will liberate mankind from an evil race of homicidal cyborgs in the future. The man that tried to accost her was no doubt attempting to save her from the cyborg that was sent back in time, hell-bent on her demise to frustrate the coming of her future offspring.
