    https://www.theatlantic.com/politic...hen-a-presidency-loses-its-legitimacy/531447/

Spitballing an answer to the question in the column:

If either ticket had won, and been found to be fatally compromised, then when it became necessary to remove them as a set, the Speaker of the House would succeed to the presidency.
I do NOT like Ryan, or his policies, but the question posed is not "Who do you want to be president?" but "what is the right outcome under these crazy circumstances?" For me, it's the outcome that would have ensued regardless of who'd won the election & been found compromised.Given Putin did not orchestrate the GOP majority, he's the first person in the line of succession who's position is not tainted - thus President Ryan.

They didn't, couldn't tamper with the electoral college vote, which is all that matters.

BTW, don't forget that Kruschev also directed the Soviet intelligence apparatus to get Kennedy elected too. The key question is whether there was collusion with the crimes.

I'm fairly certain, at this point, the man could take a shit on the flag, light it on fire, and toss it onto the Statue of Liberty's torch, and he would still be President once the news cycle died down.

He has become normalized, his administration's actions have overloaded the news cycle, and they were not prepared for it. Fatigue has already begun to set in. Short of him murdering someone on live television with a cross shaped dildo that has "Illegal Immigrants are the true Christians" written in glitter pink Sharpie, he isn't going anywhere the next 3 1/2 years.

Ryan is probably tainted as well. There's audio of a Representative saying he thought Trump was on Russia's payroll and Ryan swearing him to secrecy.

I'm calling this 'The Learning'. After the '06 slaughter, Bush was defanged and in fact some good stuff got pushed through by the Dems (Post 9/11 G.I. Bill, Auto Bailouts, etc). So young people really didn't have any experience with Republican government. Made it easy for them to sit home after the Bernie Bros convinced them that there was no difference between Hillary and a Republican.

Whelp. Now they're gaining that experience. Let's hope their Learning doesn't do too much damage.

Do you have a source for that? Not that I don't believe you, I'd just really like to see this one for myself.

How the hell did I miss that one? Wow! Also, this confirms for me that Paul Ryan is a shit shingle stuck to the bottom of America's shoe.

We know the Russians did tamper with voter rolls in several states deleting registered voters. All of whom happened to be democrats.

Yes, that is a major tampering with election results. It means dems show up to vote and get told they are not registered.

Eh, no. At least one article (dunno if it was OP) said that the voter roll tampering was caught and reversed.

I was unaware of that. I did see an article last thursday which said voter roll tampering by Russian hackers directed by the Russian dictator was more wide spread then previously thought.

Given how crappy some of the security measures were said to be, I wouldn't be confident that they found and fixed everything.

but the EC is directly dependent on the pop.vote. Meddle with the pop in the right places to flip states and you have by definition meddled with the EC

Nova, you really should get out of the reality impaired trumphate bubble you and much of leftforge appear to be stuck inside.

[I don't mean to construct a fantasy scenario that defies belief, but if] a normal person visiting this board as their sole source of information would reasonably think the entire country is in flames and Trump on his way out any day from a huge litany of charges any fraction of which could topple fifteen consecutive administrations. Newsflash, bud, that's not a fair picture of a reality as perceived by the vast majority of the country outside you all's insular bubblewold-view.

E.g. re: Russiagate, the Obama administration comes out the smelliest and most criminally negligent, so far with what's been revealed. The new fishing investigation for more dirt so far makes Comey look a politically ridiculous, irresponsible asshat rather than a respectable representation of the nation's top cop. etc.
