Anyone watching this? I was worried they would screw up making an American show based on the movie, but it's 3 out of 3 great episodes up to now.
I haven’t seen the movie yet, but the show is funny. I like the werewolf episode the best, so far. The emotional vampire, so funny.
I have very little time for TV. In the last couple of years I’ve seen GoT, Altered Carbon and Shrill. Started the Expanse twice now but keep getting derailed. Want to see Season 2 of Westworld. At this point I’m so far behind (on everything except GoT) that I get to wait a few seasons Andy make sure something pans out before I start watching.
This is worth it. Only a few episodes in and 20 minute episodes so it's not a slog to get through. While there are a couple of running threads up to now most episodes could be watched in isolation/out of order. I'm personally loving it. BAT!
I am grey, we stand between the candle and the star. We are grey, we stand between the darkness and the light.
Similar premise except they are on Staton Island and similar humor. The jokes are laugh out loud funny and it hasn’t burned up the premise. The latest episode was the funniest so far.
Much closer than I expected in terms of tone. A few ideas are re-used and adapted but it's also different enough that it doesn't feel like a remake of the film. Feels like it's the same universe, just a different vampire group. Also they just got renewed for season 2, which is excellent.
Apparently Cate Blanchett was on the list for the council at one point and then they realised she had never played a vampire so told her she wasn't allowed. Also for anyone who hasn't been exposed to Matt Berry before this show I can't recommend the show Darkplace enough:
This show deserves more viewers. The season finale was hilarious. Pot Gregor, but we’ll see you soon. I hope we see more Jenna. Anyway, good comedy, people need to watch it.
I finished watching the first season last night. Very funny show. I loved the movie, and the show improved upon the premise a lot. Some similar jokes, but mostly new stuff. The acting has been great too. All of these actors just have perfect comedic timing. I don't think I've seen such natural comedic acting since The Office or Parks and Rec. Excited for season 2 to come out.
Also, Colin Robinson is fantastic. I love the idea of an energy vampire, and I would crack up in every one of his scenes. Loved that actor on The Office too.
I've only caught the first two episodes, but they are really solid. Haley Joel Osmont cracked me up. And yes I would also like some of that updog.
