Well, I'm no expert by any stretch of the imagination, but the things that stand out to me are his his arm speed, his footwork, etc.

Any team that drafts him to play Quarterback is going to have a project on their hands, one that may or may not pan out. A lot of Quarterbacks in college play other positions in the NFL; Tebow could be at a number of positions.

Proof that God hates the Crimson Tide: Most of Tuscaloosa doesn't have power. This is more hilarious than the Hiedi incident.

Sitting here watching the game.... man, I thought Alabama was gonna come out and womp on Texas right away.

What is under Nick Saban's skin? He's not being himself.

And Texas freaking recovers the kick.

    What. The. Heck.

McCoy being out will always be talked about when this game is brought up. Texas' backup has never played a down of college football until now. Bama has no excuse for not winning by 42 if McCoy doesn't come back.

ou know, as soon as that happened, I said, "I hate that. People will always say Alabama didn't win."

Despite the fact that Alabama has had a flawless season and that the game could have gone either way. Posturing like that it lame.

With McCoy Texas arguably starts with a 14 nothing lead and doesn't 3 and out over and over.

I don't dispute that. What I do dispute is that Alabama's win is any less Valid. Injuries can happen to anyone on any team at any time.

I feel really bad for #3 (what's his name, dilbert?)

I bet he hardly has any practice time with his guys. He's... playing awfully. :(

Oh ya this win counts, Mack Brown should have had a backup quarterback. He should have played this kid at least a few minutes in the 4th quarter when Texas was blowing out all the lesser teams they beat this season instead of trying to pad McCoy's hiesman stats.

I really don't give a shit about college football, but I just wanted to let everyone know that I would totally do Colt McCoy's mom.

Only in that they struggled against a first time QB to do it.

    A few thoughts:

-This was the worst coached game I've ever seen from Saban. Why do you choose to receive the opening kick when you have a dominant defense and a ball control offense? Why do you keep putting the game in your shitty QB's hands in the first quarter when he can't even get a pass off and you have a Heisman winner in your backfield? How do you not prepare for the second pop up kick off after they've already done it once? Why run a fake punt in the 1st quarter from your own territory when you have a dominant D and a ball control offense? I could go on forever.

-Those who say that this game would be different if McCoy wasn't injured need to remember a couple things. First, 'Bama is the one who injured him with a nice hard, legal hit. It was no freak accident. Second, Anyone who watched McCoy play against OU or Nebraska knows what happens when he faces a good defense and it looks pretty similar to what Gilbert did tonight.

-'Bama has no idea how to utilize explosive talent on offense. It's pathetic that they can't find more ways to get the ball into the hands of their best atheletes.

-The Texas run defense was overrated all year. All it proved is that the Big XII doesn't run the football.

-Not having a viable back up at QB is inexcusable and I'd be pissed at Mack if I were a huge faggot (longwhorn).

-The tears of the whorn faithfull are delicious and rejuvinating after what has been a long and painful season for me personally.

-Nick Saban got nailed pretty good by the gatorade cooler and he was not happy about it despite just winning a national title. In related news, Saban is the biggest asshole that anyone ever admired.

-SEC football is boring and overrated. Get some balls and a little creativity to go with that nice defense and people won't hate you so much. Texas embarrassed Bama tonight with their testicular fortitude and ingenuity.

-Bama honestly deserved to lose after that miserable 1st quarter. Unpreparded, sloppy, stupid, and lucky. Turns out, that's a winning combination.

-I'm still not happy about rooting for 'Bama, but I also still hate the sips with a passion hotter than a thousand suns. So thank you to all the inbred Bama tards out there and Roll Tide, just this once.

It sounds like I didn't miss anything while I was at work then. I wasn't impressed with either Alabama or Texas this year anyway.

The sad thing is, there were a number of better bowl games already. Just start a playoff system already.

Even though Bama spotted them 6 and immediately came back and stuffed them? Besides, if McCoy is worth 42 then Texas really had no reason for being in a national championship game at all. *He* should've been in a circus.

The old cliche' about offense winning games but defense winning championships is borne out yet again.

Haven't watched much Bama football this year but I see what everyone's been talking about with Saban. If I'd just won a national championship, you couldn't have wiped the grin off my face with a power sander.

They'd have won with McCoy in there. Sorry, boys. True, Texas looked lousy against the Husker defense, but a lot of teams looked lousy against Ndamokung Suh and the Husker defense. You can only play the game with the personnel on the field, but McCoy being out will be figured in to how people remember the game, fair or not. Bama fans will have to learn to live with the scrutiny. They'll survive. Texas had the better defense last night. It kept them in the game until 3 minutes left when they just couldn't overcome the lack of offense anymore. Not surprised Bama won, but that was no butt kicking.

Oh, and why is Saban such a douche? Why would a kid want to play for that sorry sack of shit?

That 6 would have likely been 14 with McCoy, and McCoy wouldn't have gone 3 and out over and over giving Bama a short field time and time again until they finally scored. The time of possession would have shifted dramatically in the first 2 quarters and i think the scores would have likely been almost flipped going into the half, perhaps 24-7 Texas. So yes, McCoy going out did have a huge impact on the game and IS the reason Texas lost. The fact that they were in the game late in the 4th quarter says it all.

This is all Mack Brown's fault for not giving Gilbert any playing time all year.

You're forgetting the fact that Bama's defense had game-planned specifically for McCoy for the last month. That plan was so good that it wiped him out on the first series. What else do I have to say? Texas' defense was always good and kept them in the game no matter what happened to wonder boy.

Unless, of course, you want to argue that McCoy really is over-rated and his backup was under-rated all along. :) Don't forget, though. Alabama had already shown what it could do against a much better offense plus Heisman (and national championship winning) quarterback. The results were pretty darned similar even with Tebow in the game the whole way. So, sorry. I'm not buying it. McCoy wouldn't have made that big a difference.

I do have to say, though, that I think Texas could've taken Florida if that had been the matchup. The SEC title game did put the best team in the championship game as it was supposed to have done.

McCoy sucked against OU too. He was subpar against average defenses and flat out bad against good ones. It's a different game if he stays in, but you can't predict a win. 'Bama would have changed up their game plan when he went down, too.

EDIT: When using the injury excuse, please remember that there is no way Texas beats OU this year if Bradford is healthy. Live by the sword, die by the sword.

24-21 with a first time QB late in the 4th. Bama had no chance against McCoy. They played like garbage.

Once the comeback began, excuses about McCoy were hollow.

It's not Gilbert's fault NO ONE [-]BLOCKED[/-]FUCKING TOUCHED THAT DEFENSIVE END.

It would seem McCoy had no chance against Bama. Anyway, it's impossible to project what Bama did with Gilbert in the game into a scenario where Colt is still in the game. Bama would not treat those scenarios the same. I do agree that Texas probably gets the first touchdown with Colt in the game though.

Also, the only unit for Bama that truly played like garbage was the special teams. Texas dominated that aspect of the game. Without that advantage, they lose by 30+.

As rational people have stated, Bama has always risen just above the level of the other team's incompetance.

Bama's defense stopped Texas cold. They were stopping them cold before McCoy lost - hello redzone stop?

The thing I love is that Bama stopped them so well without #30, Hightower - their best defensive player.

Did you actually watch the game apostle? They hurt McCoy on a first down play in the redzone after he had easily got them there. When they had to put in Gilbert Bama was full aware Texas had only one option at scoring on that drive and that was running the ball over and over. So yes, Bama stopped a run series that every person in the country knew was coming.
