As in not yelling from the rooftops? Sure. But the damage has been done. She will always be that crazy lady who thought she was a Native American

What exactly did she do and when?

And to whom will this ‘always’ be how she is seen?

    Thanks for the link.

So a quarter of a century ago, on something that gained her nothing, she repeated a false story of origin that she was told.

And for that she is... ineligible to be president? That is your argument?

Are you aware of who the current Republican President is?

I prefer the term un-electable, which is what she is

Who knows, maybe she'll look good debating with the B team at the next debate and get a little bump in the polls, but that's really the best case scenario for her

I’ll give this as much weight as tererun bashing the Dems for daring to run a candidate in the Alabama Senate race.

I don’t take Trumps insults to heart as much as you do and according to opinion polls, neither do most Americans. So...

When President Elizabeth Warren is inaugurated I'll be happy to say I was wrong - anyone, even a crazy woman who pretended to be Native American, is better than Trump

In the meantime I'll stick to my gut on this one and tell you she doesn't have a hope in hell

You seem to have developed quite a fondness for her and sound like you have high expectations for her. I'm so sorry

Time to lend that passionate support to Biden, bud

Honestly at this point if you aren't for and supporting Biden, you're basically no better than someone who votes for Trump

Even if you buy the patently bullshit idea that only a straight white man can possibly win the election, who in their right mind thinks that Joe fucking Biden has the ability to get all the way through a presidential campaign without blowing it in spectacular fashion?

No, it's a much better idea to infight and discredit other members of the Democrat Party instead of supporting the guy leading all the polls by a significant margin

Not all the polls. Warren leads in combined 1st and 2nd choice in CA (despite 2 Californians running), 2nd in 1st choice, and is climbing in both.

Warren also beats Trump by 7 points in a head-to-head matchup in the latest Quinnipiac poll.

Keep in mind that Lubak is in Canada. He can't vote in the U.S. and he's not actually interested in politics, just branding. Der Drumpfenfuhrer won on brand recognition. Lubak's hoping Biden will do the same because then he can sell more salmon and olive oil in the States. Donnie Smallhands has to be hurting his bottom line right now. :bergman:

Lubak will now respond to this post with some reference, not to the issue, but to my age and/or gender. Actually, I think @Ancalagon's onto something. Lubak may be chronologically middle-aged, but he posts like one of those "Get off my lawn!" types. And I'm guessing he doesn't have half the charisma of Eastwood. (Not that, by me, Eastwood has more charisma than a rural mailbox, but I digress...)

Okay. Whatever way I answer your question, you'll respond with "SEE? SEE? I KNEW IT!!!!11!'

How many weeks do you intend to keep this up? It's Friday night. Don't you have anything better to do?

The one thing you "libertarians" have in common is a sense of entitlement.

He's probably bragging to his friends: "Hey, lookit! I'm showing that bitch a thing or three!" while they snicker behind their hands or, worse, think he's kewl.

Sad, really. Boy his age should be either out having fun or working double overtime on a Friday night instead of behaving like a bulldog puppy with a chew toy. :jayzus:

He doesn't realize that I am not now, nor have I ever been a chew toy. (Points to anyone who gets the HUAC reference.)

Polls this early are meaningless. Just ask Howard Dean, Rudy Gialanni or Gary Hart. Hillary was the "favorite" going in to 2008 before Obama upset her in Iowa.

you say that like it's a bad thing.

Line upon line - we have seen what governance predicated on right wing assumptions has done for and to this country for almost 40 years. Even when Dems had some nominal power they almost always pandered to the supposed "middle" and constructed a "neoliberal" paradigm which was rooted in the claims of conservative economics, foreign policy, and so forth. Defacto conservative government, with superficial exceptions.

Anyone paying attention can see that our current economic course is unsustainable - it is the direct fallout of the sort of government you believe in (as I once did) and it WILL end in economic collapse (completely apart from the oncoming effects of climate chaos which y'all don't even want to admit to) if things remain on this course.

And that's BEFORE we discuss that the GOP has been on an obsessive course to deliberately destroy democracy and ensure effective one party rule for a decade and is only getting more blatant about it now.

And THAT is BEFORE we even discuss the ten thousand ways Trump is the worst president in history AND the most cforrupt (two seperate things) AND a clear and present danger to the republic.

Being a "lefty" isn't bad - it's the only sane option which remains at the moment, to be otherwise is to be completely blind or willfully an enemy of what this country is supposed to be about.

Let's lay the marker down right now. In general not (just) for you personally.
Debate as you will (generic you, whoever participates) whether or not Trump can or will win.

But if you (generic you) imagine ANY scenario in which he SHOULD win then you are, in my estimation, irredeemably stupid or long for right wing autocracy and either way, there's no point in my attempting persuasion.

    Good.
Indeed, GREAT. Almost the best draw she could have asked for.

First night will get eyes and tons of news cycle regardless of roster, and given she's the wide leader all of that news coverage will keep her name in the spotlight, particularly the day of and the morning after "who did well?" discussions. She gets to go all in on "I have a plan" with very little if any infighting among the first night roster. She gets to look prepared, focused, telling you why she's the best choice.

Meanwhile on night two, yes, a lot will tune in and what will they see? Two old men competing to tell you how wrong the other one is, and both of them taking fire from all the also rans on the stage (particularly Bernie, who runs a real risk of losing his temper at some point) If Harris and Pete are smart, they will be "above all that" and look good in comparison to the sniping. But ultimately people will remember that Warren talked about issues and the old dudes bickered.

As for the roster she drew:

Cory Booker - being uplifting and optimistic is his bit, not an attacker
Julian Castro - soft spoken, thoughtful, he and Warren have already complemented each other and he might be angling for VP
Bill de Blasio - no one takes him seriously and he claims to be progressive so he can't attack her for being too left.
John Delaney - he'll play the "Almost Biden" moderate "OMG not socialism!" role, which only gives her the chance to draw distinction between hers plans and actual socialism.
Tulsi Gabbard - monotone, dull, might score VERY minor point about too many wars but Warren is on record for getting out so...
Jay Inslee - will hammer his Green plans, can't afford to distract by attacking
Amy Klobuchar - dull, wonky in some ways but without Warren's charm and with the "let's be careful, we have to work together" thing going on. There's a reason her average is under 2%
Beto O'Rourke - wild card but i doubt he'll risk his fragile standing by being percieved as an attacker
    Tim Ryan - see Delaney.

She will, with grace and humor, trounce this lot - although I expect Inslee, Booker and O'Rourke to make a generally good impression. Maybe Castro too.
