1984 is a popular year to flash back to because it's a nice round number, and Van Halen's best record came out that year, and of course, the novel....but I've explored all the best horror movies of that time, and all the really good fucked up shit came out in 1983.
Fucked up horror movies, fucked up comics, something about 1983 was really weird.
It could be good, but Even Peters is out this season.
I'm from 1983.
probably the last year before PG-13?
If you had to go for the hard R back then, may as well have gone all in rather than trying to get the youth audience at all.
Other than their debut, Fair Warning is the best VH album.
Diamond Dave > Van Hagar
Not even a little.
Did I fuck that up, are you saying Hagar is better?
Better than DLR?
He’s had a career pre-VH and post VH.
Other than those two schlock rock records DLR did in the mid/late 80s he’s done fuck all.
He’s a hack compared to Sammy.
Agree to disagree then. @Diacanu does make a good point though, 1984 was a pretty good year for horror and I wouldn’t be surprised if VH was featured in this season. There’s always decent music in AHS.
On a side note, I wonder why they’re not going a season in space or some of the other themes they’ve thrown out over the years, this seems out of left field.
A little look at the characters.
Stranger Things, the IT remake, and Bumblebee are things, and you don't see how they couldn't resist the trend?
Y'know, I just might watch this...
a lot of people share that sentiment! Not a lot of hits, but a very consistent album. Yeah bitches I said ALBUM.....what about it?
1984 was my last year in the Air Force, then I began my relatively short-lived construction career. I quit construction before my life became relatively short-lived. I needed something safer so I joined The Army - go figure!
Someone in the comments said, “reminds me of something, it’s the strangest thing.”
You only really get to say this if you arrived here by TARDIS. Otherwise you're just stating your age.
Looks absolutely wonderful! I see they brought back Cody Fern, nice. Also a few other alums are there. Still miss Evan Peters and Sarah Paulson thouh. Still, this looks good.
So its Friday the 13th meets Halloween. Jason and Mike Meyers mixed in one. Token black guy, check, jock, check, squeamish girl, check, hot chick, check, nerdy camp owner, check, scary gas station, check, 80s music, check, pretty boy, check. So far, so good.
We just discovered AHS, so we finished S1 a few months ago, and have only seen the first half of S2. S2 is going nowhere, so I think we're just gonna skip ahead to S3. Or hell, maybe go right to the 1984 season!
I would suggest finish season 2 , you might find you like it more towards the end. You can totally skip ahead. I was watching season 3 and 4 at the same time. As for this season, I’m liking what I’m seeing so far.
Two episodes in, loving the shit out of it so far.
They've nailed the look, haven't caught any bad anachronisms yet.
The one big thing this show has on real 80's horror movies (besides having 7 hours to play around in instead of 2) is their access to real FM hits instead of generic crud music.
Billie Lourd's character is just like the evil chicks in "Toxic Avenger", which came out in 1984.
If you wanna see another great Jason Voorhees parody, check out "The Final Girls".
It's got Adam Devine juuuuuust before he took off and became famous.
