Riiiight...recording himself geared and gunned up with 100 rounds on him. I'm sure he was just looking for a Kathy Ireland dinette set though.

I worked at Walmart nearly 9 years and never saw anyone with a gun except for the occasional member of law enforcement.

Correction. I encountered two people with guns. One was a long distance truck driver who wanted ammo for his strange little two round pistol that he wore on a necklace.

Another was a Mexican guy who couldn't speak much English. When we asked him in Sporting Goods what he was looking for he reaches in his bag and pulls out a huge weapon with a 30 rd. banana clip. He was also hoping to buy ammunition.

So what you're saying is that anyone who's not law enforcement and is openly carrying a weapon in a public place like Wallyworld should be shot. Seems a bit extreme.

are you referring to the asshole all decked out in armor & camo or the asshole who detained him at gunpoint until the cops could get there?
Are they both assholes for having guns? Just trying to see where you stand here.

that story would be so much better if the guy said "say hello to my little friend!" as he pulled the gun out of the bag.

apparently the guy with the guns, rounds & camo doesn't watch the news because walking into a Walmart like so soon after El Paso is not a smart move. Granted he was videoing himself, so I think he may have been trying to make a statement. If so, he's a major #1 shithead.

so the ex fireman who was carrying and detained this (possibly) crazy dangerous guy was an asshole? Again, like any cop who may stop a crime with a gun? You are fucked in the head or trying to be funny/trolling.

Anyone who feels the need to carry is an asshole. Not like someone who is required to do it for their job.

That would depend on the definition of asshole.

For me this includes, but isn't limited to:
    • Someone so insecure they feel the need to carry lethal force when in public
    • Someone so egotistical they feel their safety is paramount to the safety of others
    • Someone so foolish as to think they might be a "good guy with a gun" as justification for the 1st two.

It really does smack of either being very paranoid, very insecure or merely a fantasist.

Thank you for not saying "mental illness."

Breakdown, certainly. Isolation, alienation, lack of hope for a prosperous future. Distrust of authorities and institutions, even if that distrust is somewhat well-founded, breeds resentment and rage that boils over. Scapegoating of people with different ethnic backgrounds, religions, lifestyles, or political beliefs.

Also definitely a factor. The culture of pulling outrageous stunts for "clout." The way people push each other to keep getting more and more extreme. The easy access and distribution of materials which advocate radical social transformation, without understanding of the proper historical context. The way people can seem perfectly normal and happy IRL and live in a completely different mental world online.

Lost me here. Do you mean "liberal" as in overly permissive, or indoctrinating children with liberal politics? Or something else?

FYI they dropped the asterisk thing several years ago. It’s just “Walmart” now.

And agreed about the rest (at least at the ones in cities). A few years ago I was making a bunch of dubs at home for the Emmys or something and needed a replacement cable for one that failed. It was after hours foe Radio Shack so went to the Walmart closest to my house. It was like someone had let the freaks out of their cages. And we live in a nice area. :calli:

UPDATE the Walmart "nut" sure enough turned out to be a guy making a statement on 2nd Amendment rights. as they say "there's a time and a place for everything" and here's your proof.

Side note Walmart used to be Wal*Mart? I never noticed that!

That pretty much covers the people who carry without being required to. I am sure they will pretend they do not fit into those categories, but they do.

I have a paintball gun. It is perfectly legal and non lethal. Even when I was on my way to an event and dressed in tactical paintball gear I did not need to bring my gun into the Walmart or supermarket we went to. It was easy enough to leave it locked in the trunk of the car. Yes, I was proud of it and I did all sorts of work on it, but even at the field you put the thing down because it is safer and it is annoying to carry it around. One thing I know, is that the guys who liked to have their guns on them at all times and play with them a lot were always the ones who ended up accidentally firing them off at some point. I wonder why? Probably because they are just another dumb fuck. In the case of a paintball gun with a barrel bag to stop the ball from going anywhere that is fine. When it is some dumb fuck with an assault rifle that should be criminal.

I am not saying you cannot own the gun and shoot it at the right places, but there should be no reason for you to be hugging it in public. It is pretty much like your sex doll for all you guntards. Don't bring it out in public and show us how craven and cowardly you are.

Looks that way to you. People carrying for self-protection don't carry 100 rounds. He should have had his head blown clean off to send a message.

While I normally don't like to agree with transmalcolm over here, I am really going to have to call racism on this one. Twitchy cops would have blown a black man's head off for doing this bullshit, and we don't need stupid carrying a assault rifle around for no reason other than to endanger everyone around. I like fireworks, but I don't just carry them around on me in case I want to light something off. I would say somewhat good on the people for not shooting him, but boy needs some time in prison to think about the battles he wants to fight in life. Also, he needs a felony conviction so he cannot legally own a firearm anymore because this is the sort of dumb ass life choice that says you are too stupid to own a gun.
