He went into the hospital earlier today and was in critical condition. His wife Malissa just posted this a few minutes ago:

    He was 50 years old.

For those who might not recall, Aron played "Nog" on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.

Damn he was 50 years old?

That means he started playing Nog at 24!

For some reason I just assumed he was around the same age as the character he portrayed.

    :(

So crazy... he was posting to Twitter earlier that day. I had no idea he was even sick. Apparently he had 2 kidney transplants.

That's also why he was so short, like Gary Coleman.

I rewatched the scene where Nog explains to Sisko why he wants to join Starfleet. Fucking excellent acting from Eisenberg and hopefully this is why the DS9 writers saw fit to promote him to almost-regular. He knocked it out of the fucking park here - proud of his Dad yet not, because his Dad didn't follow the life he was suited to but what society expected, and determined not to make the same mistakes. And yeah, despite railing on Ferengi culture, he also shows pride in his Uncle for being tenacious, even though Quark is what he's railing against. I like to think Sisko didn't just buy the "I hate Ferengi culture!" line but saw Nog was genuinely proud of his family whilst admitting that not every one of his family was well-served by that culture.

Good scene. I kind of feel like Sisko wanted to see what Nog was going to say rather than out right rejecting him.Kind of like when Worf wanted to resign.

I agree. Sisko wanted to see how hard Nog was willing to fight for what he wanted. Would he meekly leave the office, or would he strongly advocate for himself? How invested was he in the idea? An excellent scene. The Season 7 episode where Nog has PTSD and living in the holodeck with Vic Fontaine was pretty goofy, but I thought Eisenberg's acting was wonderful.

Wow he really was an underrated actor. It’s amazing the journey he went on over the course of seven seasons. This side character got more development than half the cast of Voyager.

As Ed mentioned, he had one when he was a kid and his growth was stunted as a result. His last transplant was last year IIRC. He was cast because they needed an adult that could stay in the makeup chair for the 2 hours it takes to do the full Ferengi face.

He was one of the very few actors I followed on FB and he seemed like a legit dude.
