A major strategic bomber of WW2 it burned many cities in both Germany and Japan as well as carried both of the atom bombs dropped on Japan. It was one of the most widely produced strategic bombers of WW2 and it was a main stay of the aviation industry in San Diego along with the PBY-2 Catina float plane which was known as "the workhorse of the Pacific".

Never mind the Enola Gay as well as the Bockscar were B-29 Superfortress bombers.

    Carry on.

Carried them where? To the island where the B-29's were waiting for them?

This. The B-29 was the only US aircraft large enough to carry either of the first two atomic weapons, the components of which were delivered to Tinian by the USS Indianapolis.

B-24s were also flown by the Doolittle Raiders during their famous surprise attack on Manitoba...not to mention a B-24 killed Admiral Yamamoto when it shot down his Herkimer Battle Jitney.

For reasons relevant to this thread?

Anyone who'd fancy a ride in this...

I think it costs near $3000 for a 30 minute spin...

What I really wanna do though, is get some guys together and charter their C47 for a jump.

The official United States Navy style guide now dictates that ship names be written as: USS Indianapolis (CA 35). :bergman:

I'm pretty sure it was P-38s that shot down Admiral Yamamoto and his staff and killed them.

Because you have no sense of humor and/or lack reading comprehension.

Unless your really do believe the Doolittle Raiders attacked Manitoba.

Though it wouldn't surprise me if you do.

We brought swift justice to the Canucks after they launched the sneak attack that sank the Yamato in Sydney Harbor. Napoleon would think long and hard before attacking Buenos Aires again.

Tuckerfan's video is cool! Robert Shaw played one of the best characters ever with that role! Brilliant casting (all the way around) in that movie!

Ben Affleck survived the one way mission and made a wheel's up landing in Arviat, NWT where he was aided by friendly Inuit who helped him escape to Greenland by dogsled.
