Arkansas man seen in Pelosi's office carried 'stun gun' into Capitol building during riot, faces 11 years in prison
Discord/Slack and the like have taken over a lot of the roles IRC played in recent years, but the servers are easy to run so for lots of groups it makes sense IRC would still have a place.
Multiple allegations coming out that some members of congress may have actively given information to leaders of the attack. edit:
Some of these stories will no doubt turn out to be nothing, but there seems to be a lot of smoke around the allegations.
Maybe, but not necessarily. I have experimented a long time ago with making the things. You would need the spark to hit the liquid at the right time. I have made and lit them, with my own poor design, where they did not ignite despite the glass breaking when they hit the object. I get a car crash probably has sparks galore, but the reason why there is ai bit of a fireball is because the fuel is energetically spread when the bottle bursts. It is part of why you need something that evaporates very fast to actually make them effective because if you don't catch that right moment they will just burn like if you poured gasoline or alcohol on the ground and lit it. That is part of why you need a good burning wick within the area where the initial spread of the fuel into droplets occurs. In a truck crash you probably wont get that mix of accelerent and oxygen you need to make it as dangerous as possible, but you would get a big old fire. It is sort of like how you can have fireworks mortars explode next to you without injury, but if the conditions are right you can get seriously injured by them.
OMG none of that would have a reasonable expectation of privacy. They actually documented their crimes in a public announcement system anyone could record. I remember when I was young some stupid kids recorded themselves shooting people with paintball guns which made it really easy for the cops to convict them. This is like that on steroids. I hope the authorities don't cut these people any deals for testimony because they do not need it when they have incriminated themselves.
It seems that because Parler was so insecure they will probably be able to compile any evidence they need linking back to bad actors and parse the dumbass from the serious. I haver this feeling that a lot of lazy and pride was in the people who did this so keeping plans out of public or recorded space was not a big thing. If they do not strike into the heart of this insurrection movement with what they have then they are complicit in it. That is what really frightens me. They should be able to cripple and splinter this movement, but will it happen. About the only reason I would say it will most likely happen is these people were not under the control of the big power of the world IMO. From what I can see this was a rogue group that threatened the entrenched power structure from the beginning, and that is why they are going to get hammered. My opinion is Donald Trump and this movement never had a true presence in the halls of real power. I also do not think we will see the big take downs.

Ha Ha Donald Trump Goes To the Wrong Alamo in Metaphor for His Clown-Shoes Presidency Guess who forgot the Alamo. By Chelsea SteinerJan 12th, 2021, 2:54 pm 18 comments In the midst of his violent attempted coup on the Capitol building and his refusal to take responsibility for the chaos he has wrought, it’s important to remember one thing about Donald Trump and the people who surround him: they are extremely stupid. This unparalleled ignorance has been demonstrated in countless examples, with my personal favorite being the now infamous Four Seasons Total Landscaping press conference. Now, desperate to escape the bad press and pending impeachment, Trump is making his first public appearance since last week’s rally by visiting a section of completed border wall in Alamo, Texas. In choosing the Alamo, Trump and his cronies are clearly invoking the history of the Battle of the Alamo, where Mexican troops stormed and reclaimed the Alamo Mission. The historic battle has long been lionized as America’s last stand, thanks to folk songs and films lauding folk heroes like Davy Crockett and John Bowie who defended the mission. The actual politics around the siege are, like most U.S. history, a lot more nuanced and steeped in the fantasy of white American exceptionalism. Clearly, Trump and his sycophants view themselves as the last bastion of white America and have co-opted the Alamo imagery for their own purposes. But being Team Trump, they completely bungled their message by going to the wrong Alamo. Trump and company are headed to the city of Alamo, Texas. The actual Alamo Mission, however, is located in San Antonio, TX. Great work, everyone. Frankly, I’m surprised they’re not holding the event at an Alamo car rental kiosk. Also, it turns out that no one told the city of Alamo that Trump would be arriving, forcing them to hastily put out this message: (MORE AT LINK)
I'm unsurprised that the administration that booked a speech at Four Seasons Total Landscaping (rather than the hotel) would bungle another booking like this. I can't wait for them to book a speech at Gettysburg TV in South Dakota, or the Lincoln Tunnel (instead of the Lincoln Memorial).
From what I've seen elsewhere, I'm operating under the assumption that they meant to go to Alamo, because it is near the border whereas The Alamo is not. In other words, they are in the right place but still want to evoke "Remember the Alamo!" Deliberate distortion as opposed to messing up and trying to put a brave face on it like the Four Seasons fiasco.
Given how little new wall has actually been built, it wouldn't surprise me if Alamo is one of the closest/easily accessible places where there's a section of it.
If only I had known as a kid that when I got in trouble I could just tell my folks "it's time to heal" instead of facing any real sort of punishment
I remember saying back in 16 that I now knew how my grandparents felt in Denmark in 1933-and why they left in 1936. I'm now feeling the vibe of relation's who stayed about the last week of march, 1940. Shit's probably gonna spill north, and there ain't a damn thing we can do about it... directly.
I don't think so - I think we are in for an extended shitshow of domestic terrorism from our 'patriots', but I don't think we are into actual warfare now. IMO the only way that scenario was viable was if Trump actually stole the presidency.
Yeah, if he wants to visit a section of his Big Beautiful Wall, there aren't actually all that many options.
I don't know where the sections in the western states are, but it's 56 miles from Alamo, Texas to an airport capable of handling AF1 and C-5s (which is how the motorcade vehicles and helicopters get delivered).
