This movie hits the mark. It is what The Happening should have been, but it is not the trees doing it. It is suspenseful and well done. It has a decent cast, and they play great against each other.

This is basically an end of humanity thriller. people start killing themselves when they see the things. It is done pretty creepy and scary without a lot of wisecracks.

It is on their new release list and is one of their projects from what I understand. They did put a trailer out for it that looked interesting but wasn't the actual movie. I am assuming they will have it out there for some time unless one of the cast starts showing their dick to everyone. I am looking at you Sandra bullock.

Okay I saw Bird Box today and it was great! My wife liked it too. Yes it's kind of a worn out genre but the actual story and cast were solid & entertaining. John Malkovich is one creepy dude no matter what he's playing....talented but creepy!

Just finished this movie, really great! Malkovich is never wrong. One tiny gripe, can 55 year old women get pregnant? Anyway, it reminded me of The Mist, but had more heart. I highly recommend this. The best part is you don't have to even leave your home. Keep it up Netflix, you're getting a lot better.

Saw this over the Christmas break and yeah, it's pretty damn good. Loved the bit near the beginning where the one guy thinks maybe he can watch thru the house's video surveillance system and safely view what's going on, only to find out that that's a Really Bad Idea.

I have to say Netflix has been pounding out some decent and creative content.

I would like to see more of the "mass suicide" angle on the world ending done like this. Samamalyan, or whatever his name is, really ruined his own movie with the happening. Some spoilers for the happening ahead, but it sucked and is old so sorry if I ruin it. In that movie I liked the creepy idea of something that made you kill yourself when you got it. You need some rules to it for people to survive and screw up with. But in his case the plants did it and the more they tried to science things the more they screwed things up. In this there is really no explanation, just rules. Even questioning how to get around the rules is really dangerous. There is no why for the rules, they just are there.

To go after mr. fail creepy shamymamalan some more, in signs the bad guys could not open doors. This movie has some of that same stupid weakness, but it covers it better. It never really explains much about the bad guys so even though not being able to figure out how to open a door in five years is a bit silly, you can imagine why that is the case. Also, it negates the weakness by

I think the movie will eventually get picked apart by the snobs because it does leave so much unanswered, but that is why it is so scary to watch. It keeps the dangers unknown and then throws real world dangers at the characters at the same time. It explains just enough so it is not just a splatter fest with no plot, and it keeps just enough scary otherworldly crap that it keeps you scared of the unknown.

It even somewhat punishes the audience for trying to figure it out.
It is an interesting sort of subliminal message.

You notice that was really the last time someone tried to out think the rules of the movie. That is sort of the message to the audience that you are not going to think your way around to get your ability to see outside back. The movie was still creative enough to hint at the appearance of the whatever by providing a mirror through drawing. Maybe it was not the things, or maybe it was, but it sort of might have answered a bit of what people were seeing without having to fully show something that should remain imaginary given it's nature.

Sometimes too much reveal takes away from things or steps on imagination. This is one of those cases where you should let the audience keep things in their imagination for a better effect.

yeah when you don't know exactly what "it" is that kind of bugs me but that does keep me interested because of course I'll watch until the end just to find out! But one part really didn't make sense.....when our hero was inside the military/firefighter barracks or whatever and the bedframe was moving by itself. :shep: Were "they" inside or was she starting to see things from being influenced by them? Would another few seconds have driven her over the edge" and she would commit suicide?

Whatever "they" were the crazy folks raved about how "beautiful" they were & how beautiful the world is, etc. Thus I doubt any crazy artist trying to depict them would show them as anything but that.

The movie did have some open questions like that, but it kept you in it by not letting you think too much about it. Like why was it that these things could shake a big old SUV but they couldn't break through a door or house window? Why can't they take off a blindfold themselves? It is not like they gave a crap about the people who were blindfolded so they were not worried about injuring them. If it is that they cannot connect with physical objects why do walls keep them out?

This movie does have faults, but it keeps you in it with the suspense and acting and does not let you start thinking too much about things. That is what a movie like this should do. When you give the audience instructions to think and time to do it like The Happening did you take people out of the movie.

it might have something to do with not interfering too much with the what humans do to each other, or interfering with human "free will" sort of. It's kind of like they have limits as to how far they can manipulate humans but humans still have to be the ones to physically harm each other. These things only set the stage for the deadly antics. So you could say there are very general religious overtones at play in the movie. Keeping things very much in the abstract definitely makes for a more interesting movie IMO. 10 Cloverfield Lane (I think that's the name of it) does this until towards the end of the movie.

It's already being picked apart by critics. I've learned over the years, don't listen to the critics. Some people are complaining that it doesn't explain enough, I'm sorry, but if you need to be spoon fed shit all of the time, then you shouldn't be watching movies.

It's real simple, there's some bad shit out there, we don't know what it is, but who cares, all it wants to do is make you go crazy and kill yourself. If you look at it, you'll die. Now we have to figure out how to survive knowing this information. Period. What else do you need to know?

The black guy said it's some kind of demon or something, if that makes feel better, then go with that. I'm fine with this information. I'm also fine with the idea of training blindfolded for five years in order to be able to function in the world. I don't need anything else, the movie worked on those premises.

People are comparing it to A Quiet Place. Guess what? I didn't see it.

People bring up The Happening. Guess what? I didn't see that either. I don't like Shamalamadingdong's movies. I'm only going to see Glass to finish the trilogy. I didn't like Split, but Unbreakable was good.

    Screw these idiots.

The Red Letter Media guys always point this out when it happens. Some people in Hollywood think the audience is stupid. The directors that don't think that end up making better movies, prime example is Christopher Nolan.

Yeah, it's great. Think I saw it had the best opening numbers ever on Netflix? Well deserved.

There's nothing in the movie that would indicate Mallory's age.

Not fully an indicator of age. I also think it is possible for a woman that old to become pregnant, but it is increasingly more likely for a miscarriage or birth defects. Sandra could play under her natural age easily.

so boxing added another weight class? Mexicans are going to totally dominate this division!

good to know Canada is slowly catching up to the US level of stupidity! BTW I hope this girl is blindfolded when she sees her next auto insurance bill!
BTW "might be charged with reckless driving?" Why would there even be any question that she should be charged?
Side note if Netflix makes a movie about people shoving their hands down a running garbage disposal will people do that too? MAKE...THAT....MOVIE!

She won't have to worry about that- no insurance company in its right mind will ever cover her again.
