Definitely both. Perhaps 95% retard, 70% troll; there's a lot of overlap.

Once again, neither of you have provided Bibical evidence to support your claim for Christ mandating the seeking of government mandated "social justice".

Nobody said anything about "government mandated" except you, in the same post that you decried people talking about fairness.

That's because the bible doesn't explicitly speak of "government mandated programs for social justice". I have the capability to read things, and understand their meaning; why don't you? Because you're a simpleton.

    Exactly.

Y'know, I'm sure if slavery lingered on for a couple centuries more, they could have "reformed", it, y'know, given the slaves better living conditions, unionized, maybe gotten profit sharing, and stock options.
Shit, maybe even dental for the kids.

But y'know what? Fuck it, it's slavery, just get rid of it.

Slavery demeans the species, and superstition demeans the species.

You can't bondo and sand over that.

Fine. The the church and private individuals can do what they choose to do for the poor if the spirit moves them.

But I'm not supporting government redistribution of wealth. Especially not in a western nation (U.S. Canada, Australia, Japan, New Zealand, and the EU countries).

I'm a Christian because I believe that I have committed sins and I want the forgiveness of God and mercy in the afterlife.

Not because I want to elevate the poor of society to higher station.

Under any Christian doctrine I know of, you don't get mercy and forgiveness without repenting of the sins and trying to do what's right - including by the poor - you fucking clown.

And don't give me the "what would an atheist know?" brush-off again. This is the shit they teach four-year olds.

Again with the brush-off, rather than you do anything to acknowledge the glaring hypocrisy of wanting to be a Christian for selfish reasons, while openly acting contrary to the professed tenets of the faith.

People like Dayton add weight to my argument that no one really believes the bullshit of Christianity when push comes to shove.
    Not in their deepest heart.

Dayton is as rotten as he damned well wants to be.
He'd be just as shitty if he were born a Muslim, a Hindu, a Buddist.
His choice of fairy tales is decoration, garnish.
    A tribal marking.
    Nothing more.

as an aside to the whole "welfare"bullshit conversation...

If "The Church" wanted to help the poor, REALLY help, it would show in their spending habits. Cry about "social justice"? What single institution among human beings controls and directs MORE wealth than the RCC?

So, again I say about what they say...

People like Dayton are exactly the reason why I wasn't raised to have my life revolve around the church and the people that attend them. Too often, they pass judgment on other--unwed mothers especially--while fucking everything under the sun or drinking like sailors or gambling the payroll of them companies away or hiding in the closet.

I don't know the exact verse, but there is something in the bible about worshipping God in private as well as in public, and that one would only does so for the sake of putting on a face are no better than heathens.

Just something for Dayton and Poodle to remember. :)

I've never had sex outside of marriage of any kind whatsoever. I don't drink, smoke or gamble.

There is no "beam in my eye". So I'm free to condemn the "mote" in others eyes.

Judgement is not condemned. Hypocritical judgement is.

I've never condemned other people for sins that I've knowingly and willfully committed.

Nah. I just hoped he'd be a little different. In fact, he may be different. Who knows? He may end up bringing the church into the 21st century. It's possible that he only holds to those views as a requirement of his station in the church, and now that he's the Pope, he can effect change for the better.

He's most definitely charismatic enough, and he does seem to be kind and compassionate, eschewing the finer things in his service to see to the needs of the poor and the downtrodden, and that's something I can support. Only time will tell whether he'll be the changing face of a revived and rejuvenated Catholic church, or just more of the same.

Like I said, I want to like him. When he first appeared, he greeted people in an informal, warm manner. He asked for prayer for himself before he gave blessing in return, needing the peoples' kindness and support as well, which can be the mark of a genuinely good and humble person. I hope this is so, and that even if he won't back down on same sex marriage and such, that at least he'll head a more compassionate, caring church. That's probably the best I can hope for, really, and it would be nice to see an accountable church as well, because surely if he wants to help the disadvantaged and innocent, he will pursue the abusers of such people, and that includes those molesting priests who believe they can hide within the church to avoid being brought to justice.

Well fuck my nipples and call me Marilyn! I didn't know we had a messiah on this board! Amazing!

Because life is short, and I believe people should be free to choose what they do with their own bodies, so long as it harm no one else, Lord Dayton. Why do you feel the need to oppress them?

Because it is wrong and immoral.

And even in the most libertarian paradise the "freedom to do something with your own body" has never and never will be unlimited.

The problem, Dayton (PBUH), is that many of your ideas of "wrong and immoral" are subjective, and based on much ignorance. You want people to conform to your morality, and yours alone, and it seems you would be content to see them under a theocratic government. Namely, your theology.

    The Bible is not subjective.

At any rate, I've never advocated a theocratic government of any kind.
