A few days ago Barack Obama endorsed Justin Trudeau and the Liberal party on twitter, so yesterday Bernie Sanders endorsed Jagmeet Singh and the NDP.

I'm personally an ABC strategic voter, but I can't help but feel the two endorsements show exactly how useless the NDP really is. The two term president that reformed American health care supports the Liberals, the beloved old man with zero accomplishments that couldn't beat Hillary or Biden supports the NDP. :chris:

I'm also annoyed to see an NDP candidate that's polling high in Alberta telling liberal and green supporters that they should vote for him strategically to keep the conservative incumbent from winning, when the federal NDP leadership still keeps insisting that strategic voting is the worst thing in the world, and no one should ever vote for their second choice out of fear even if it means your riding sending a conservative to Ottawa. Those holier than thou principles went right out the window the second there was an advantage to ignoring them. :dayton:

This election, I'm an ABJ voter.

The only bright side to this debacle of an election call is that it's curtains for that privileged little shit.

Justin remains the only politician I've ever booed in person, but Singh is even more of an empty suit*, and O'Toole will literally get us all killed*. :(

*I saw an analysis of the NDP's 2021 platform compared to previous campaigns, and it concluded that their current platform isn't a proper update of their previous ones so much as them simply one-upping everything the Liberals are promising.

*O'Toole was publicly praising Kenney's response to covid only a couple days before Kenney himself apologized for fucking things up so badly. It's absurd that anyone is considering voting for him after that.

Um, so why are Obama and Sanders endorsing candidates in a foreign election anyway?

Obama and Trudeau were actually friends/allies while both of them were in office, so a "good luck to my friend" tweet arguably makes sense. Bernie is just straight-up interfering in a foreign election.

I wouldn't read such a tweet as a formal endorsement, although I can see people who would.

Eh, we're generally super chill about it either way. John Oliver did a whole piece on a federal election once and everyone was just happy to get noticed.

I voted at the advance polls. Let's just say that neither the Liberals, Conservatives, NDP or PPC got my support.

Bookmark this post, because here's my prediction:

It's going to be a minority government. And we're going to be facing another election in two years with new leadership at the head of all the major parties.

The only thing that would make me happier at this point is if Maxime Bernier and all his supporters got Thanos'ed out of existence. :bergman:

It's unlikely they'll win a seat this election, but I'm really hoping the only reason they've gained traction is because of the COVID issue.

Canada has its fair share of idiots, but unlike the U.S., we've successfully been able to relegate them to the fringes. I really wish that doesn't change.

Yeah, I can't imagine an Obama or Bernie fan who wasn't already inclined to vote that way already.
I think it's a combination of Covid and O'Toole trying to pivot the CPC to the left. I remember when he won the leadership while defending guys like Derek Sloane and shitting on MacKay for his entirely reasonable "stinking albatross" quote. He wasn't elected to turn the party into Liberal lite, and that's going to sink him if it doesn't win him the PMs seat on Monday.

75% of the idiots are. The other 25% are spread primarily through the British Columbia interior and some parts of Ontario and Quebec.

seriously... took the GF and her kid to the zoo on the weekend. THe number of PPC signs in that part of town was something between confusing and frightening.

Otherwise, are we talking per capitas or totals of idiots? Because the way you state it I think really understates the contributions of ont/que to our national moron quotient.

The Liberals had better give Justin the boot.

I fear the Cult of Justin in this country is just as rabid and faithful as the Cult of Trump is in the United States.

I think Justin is going to hang on. :sigh:

He needs to start grooming and showing off his possible replacements ASAP. We can't have another lost decade with chumps like Michael Ignatieff and Stephane Dion somehow unable to match the charisma of Stephen Harper. :marathon:
