Another example of a lefty echo chamber:

For a long time, polyamorous people used the word "poly" as shorthand. A few years ago, there was an article written by a "Polynesian" person complaining about how upset they were about how when they Google stuff like "poly meetups," they get a bunch of polyamory meetups and no meetups for Polynesian meetups. So, there was a big push for polyamorous people to stop using "poly" and start using "polyam" or "polya." The original article was found to be a hoax, and every time it's brought up there are Polynesian people saying "I'm Polynesian, we don't use 'poly' to refer to ourselves and I've never heard of anyone doing so, you guys are probably good." But still, there are people in every polyamory group constantly telling people they're assholes if they use "poly" to mean "polyamorous." I've left Facebook groups after seeing posts from moderators saying they'd ban people for saying "poly," and I was kicked out of a group for jokingly claiming to be part of an ethnic group that wanted dibs on "polyam" and asking people to please stop using it.

Anyway, if this was a lefty echo chamber, there wouldn't be any righties present, because, that's how echo chambers work.

My impression is that the current political situation gives much more of an impression of WF being "a leftist echo-chamber" than it actually is, to those who equate "pro-Trump" with being on the right. I think there are quite a few of us here who wouldn't identify completely as being "on the left" politically (I have said myself, more than once, and very explicitly, that I am a centrist) who are dead-set against Donald Trump.

To the die-hard Trump bootlickers, that gives the impression that we are all in agreement, and all way over on the left politically. In reality, there are a number of us who are as thoroughly anti-Trump as we could be just because we recognize that there needs to be some alternative to far-left political rhetoric other than Donald Trump's neo-fascism.

Sure, those of us who despise Trump's social and political agenda, and find the man totally unfit for the office he holds, agree with each other on that. But if Biden is elected in November (looking more and more like a real possibility...), we will soon discover that we didn't agree politically, except in our opposition to Trump. Kind of like the Americans and the Soviets uniting against Hitler, but as soon as Nazi Germany was crushed, it because obvious that there was and would never be any such thing as an "American-Soviet echo chamber".

Bottom line: those who think WF is a "leftist echo-chamber" are actually showing that they are so hopelessly pro-Trump that, to them, opposing him is a more important characteristic in a person than anything else the person might think about politics.

“The People” are much more closely aligned than what politicians and the media would have you believe. The right has become so insulated that to be anti trump, anti-subjugation of women, anti-wild Wild West with guns, is to be “left” - which is probably 90% of the people.

There are still differences and we still discuss those differences here. We just don’t have an overwhelming population of “religious right” that discussion is not impeded with “you’re so stupid” every other post.

I have religious right family as well, but I’ll not pretend to be one. This why I despise US Christianity so much. It has turned my normally intelligent, educated, loving family into bigoted idiots.

This is a round earth echo chamber because all of you round earthers won't stop mocking the completely stupid ideas of flat earthers. In order to be neutral you have to have every lie and idiotic thought presented as if it is just as true as the truth.

This is the logic of the right, and let us remember they present the truth as lies and bullshit in their own actual echo chambers.

Either way, they'll be back as soon as there is a clear winner. If Trump wins, it'll be to gloat. If Biden wins, it'll mark the start of the obstructionist resistance.

I don't want to put words in anyone's mouth, but until proven otherwise, I'm going to think that they agree that Trump's policies are indefensible. But, if he honestly, legally wins reelection, he and they can claim a popular mandate.

    Well, there's the hitch.
He can't, and he knows it, which is why he's trying so hard to delay the election, discredit or destroy mail in voting, destroy the post office, whatever he can do.

I don't really think you can deny this place is sort of an echo chamber, though. Most places online tend to be when like-minded people get together, and there's nothing wrong with that. The internet loves affirmation.

I disagree. I really think that he's delusional enough that he'll continue his game right up until the Secret Service tells him it's time to go get on the plane on January 20th, 2021 (or 2025). If Biden wins, his transition team is going to have the most difficult transition in history because I suspect Team Trump will burn every bridge and cut every rail on the way out the door. If Biden wins, he absolutely must pick people with experience in the Executive Branch, basically Obama v1.5, because they won't be allowed to walk in the door until after the inauguration.

Apropos of nothing, you guys (and gals) must remember that I'm still very much a conservative about many things. I'm drifting towards Scandinavian Socialism because, you know, it actually works. I think we should have an extremely generous and non-punitive social safety net. I'm in favor of Universal Health Care. I'm disgusted by the monopolistic nature of many of our largest companies, rampant corporate welfare, and cronie capitalism. I'm completely, wholly, and totally in favor of liberty and justice for all, not just those that look like me, talk like me, pray like me, and vote like me. We probably just disagree on how we get there and why we do it.

Donald Trump doesn't support any of those things. Therefore, I can not support Donald Trump.

I don't know. This place has always been way more diverse than most places on the internet. The issue was always that there were too many shrills calling names and throwing shit.

This place is still fairly diverse. On the right, you have Async, Elwood, ... On the left you have K, Spot, ... all making valid, points and stating facts. The rest of us on each side agree or counter or just make ridiculous ad libs. But, I'd hardly call this an echo chamber for either side.
