Star Trek: Discovery is going to continue and succeed for the same reasons Star Trek: Voyager lasted 7 seasons.

Discovery does have plenty of space battles. Though not the kind I like.

So did Voyager. It was naff regardless.

DSC holds up very well indeed compared to other series at the equivalent point, IMHO, rewatching TNG S1 (and much of 2) is painful (remember "Code of Honour"?), DS9 was essentially going nowhere fast and VOY started off with promise it never quite fulfilled. Even TOS arguably hit a lot of bum notes in S3 (opposite pattern, I know) but we affectionately tend to overlook "Spocks' Brain" and remember "The Corbomite Maneuver".

"Spock's Brain" was terrible (at least the second half was) but much of its prominence is because it was the Season Three premier episode. Several other Season Three episodes like "The Enterprise Incident" were quite good.

The Next Generation was poor its first two seasons because of Gene Roddenberry and the writer's strike hurting the 2nd season severely.

Deep Space Nine was a poor concept for a series which was later redeemed by great writing and greater execution though overall it is overrated.

    Fine... a source with links.

Still beats the usual "I read it in <insert obscure publication (name only)> "

I'm proud of him... it's a show of growth.

Crumpets aren't farmed. Maybe in Canada. Muppets might be, but I think in this case the term "muppet" is being used to describe "farmer." His Grace is nothing if not grammatical.

The ship is named after three John McCains, including that late Arizona senator. It was rededicated to do so last year.

in @Dayton3 's world every ship would be named the Dayton. Every street would be named Dayton street, and all white male Christian children (Which would be the only thing you were genetically allowed to birth) would be known as Dayton.

There are natural reasons why he will never rule the world, and one of them is idiocy.

Actually I have a list of possible starship names for use in a Star Trek series and not one of them is "Dayton". Also I have no desire to have streets with my name nor do I want a bunch of children with my name. Dayton is a pretty rare given name by any standard by the way. It is more of a surname.
