Does anyone care about the Aquaman movie?

I was not impressed with Jason Momoa’s dudebro portrayal in Justice League.

    ‘MY MAN!’

He was a walking punchline. I know Aquaman has always been kind of a joke but they could have made him more serious like in the Justice League cartoon.

Not too excited about Shazam either. The character just isn’t that interesting to me.

Really the only DC movie I’m anticipating is Wonder Woman 2 because she’s so far the best thing about these movies and there are good stories left to tell. I feel like Superman and Batman have been done to death so many times and in so many variations but she hasn’t had nearly as much exposure aside from the ancient 70s tv show and The aforementioned Justice League cartoon.

It's by James Wan, so I'm ready to be surprised.
People were biting their nails about Wonder Woman until Patty Jenkins hit it out of the park.

I'm sort of looking forward to Aquaman, same with Shazam.

But the DC movies are like having a birthday at Christmas, and Stan Lee is Santa.

Doesn't matter how good their birthday bash is, everyone is talking about the upcoming Christmas party. The meal is booked, but surrounded by Christmas parties who've gone through all the nice beer, the best starters and the only mains left are the vegetarians ones that the vegetarians didn't want to touch.

So it's kind of hard to generate any major desire.

I'm hoping they'll start taking a few risks to get the eyebrows raised rather than furrowed - we'll see with the GL corps, or what gets fleshed out with the planned Lobo movie I suppose. Deadpool looks to have saved Lobo from being a total fuck up at least...

IMO the only way they can get out of Marvel's shadow is going really leftfield - getting Lord and Miller to do an Ambush Bug movie on the cheap, for example, would generate a lot of WTF to use as publicity.

If DC does Lobo, it's got to be the real Lobo and not that piece-of-shit New 52 version that sucked so bad it almost inverted the space-time continuum.

Oh, you'd have hated what they were going to do - he was going to end up with a teenage girl sidekick, and I don't mean some proto Harley Quinn.

Just wiki'd the new 52 version and... urgh.

Lobo's a great comedy character, the original run may have got lazy, but he can be played off against various characters and be used for cutting satire.

Plus 'Death and Taxes' is positively feel-good for, well, anyone not a taxman.

First pic of Wonder Woman 1984 (yes, this is officially the title now)

Chris Pine is back, and he's not a flashback/ghost, so either he's a look-alike grandson, or a clone, or there's some time travel shenanigans.

So, Aquaman is shot, Shazam is shot, and WW84 is shooting.
These are the only DC movies you can take to the bank right now.

    It's a thing people say.
Y'know, like, the check will clear.
Try to "cash", Suicide Squad 2, or Untitled Joker Origin Movie, they might bounce.
    Cuz DC's slate keeps shifting.

Well, personally I think the Wonder Woman movie is the only one where box office will likely be okay. Aquaman's appearance in JL in no way excited me for one in his solo movie and Shazam is clearly playing it for laughs.

I didn't mean box-office, I meant as in they're a real thing you can hold in your hand, and aren't a pipe dream that blows away in the breeze like dandelion fluff.
Box-office, I have no fucking idea.
I thought Justice League would clear a billion, so I can't predict anything for DC anymore.

Yep. If he were a flashback/ghost/hallucination, he really wouldn't be rockin' 80s clothes.

I'm probably reading too much into it, but his expression says "Where the hell am I? Who are these people?"

Aquaman, Shazam, and WW84 are coming to San Diego Comic-Con, so the trailers should drop then.
That's July 19th, mark your calendars.

Comic Con should be DC’s time to shine, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Marvel did something to overshadow them. Hopefully we’ll get some information regarding Star Trek by then.

Don't care for Aqua Man or Shazam.

Wonder Woman I do want to see.
