Actually, by the time period of Star Trek, and especially TNG and related, I'd expect humanity to look a bit more homogenous, given a couple centuries of intermixing and the devastation of the Eugenics Wars and WWIII (as hinted at along the various series and movies).
IIRC, she sounds and acts like a nasally dork in real life. The Rosa voice is basically a Batman growl.
As far as I am concerned (and the writers too), MJ as played by Zendaya is an original character and a different person than Mary Jane Watson anyway. But you know what? Don't care. Even if she was supposed to be Mary Jane Watson, I still think she's great.

DC/CW is going to have a new character inherit the mantle of Batwoman so they're not recasting Kate Kane. That way they're not handcuffed by trying to find a match to Ruby Rose at all. Legends Of Tomorrow will end at the 5th season. So, next year, and then no more. A shame, Legends was their crazy Swiss Army knife where you could get anything done. Wanna do the "explode a guy from the inside by growing the shrinkey-guy", trick cuz "Endgame", didn't do it with Ant-Man? Legends.
