Let us speculate about which dems who will run for the 2020 nomination against Trump or Pence if Trump gets justice before then. These are my top contenders at this time though I expect the field to be especially large as Trump is a wounded man walking with the lowest ratings of any president ever so there maybe a few surprises popping up over the next year or two.

Kamala Harris- A rank corporatist but one who checks all the diversity boxes. Was fairly good at backstabbing, lying on issues, threatening potential rivals which are either pluses or minuses depending on your view point. Essentially Hillary with more melanin and a heavy dose of knee jerk race baiting.

Kirsten Gillibrand- New York's newest elected official, checks the female candidate box, known as a chameleon who flip flops on a dime with each and every poll. Petty much a younger Hillary clone without the decades of baggage or the connections.

Bernie Sanders- We all know him, many of us like him, but he will be 80 by the time 2020 rolls around.

Joe Biden- Also will be in his late 70'S by the time 2020 rolls around. He has name recognition, no real scandals, great name recognition, but questionable winnability.

Elizabeth Warren- Really smart, empathetic, but not very savvy. Big banks hate her and Republicans have spent half a decade trying to smear her.

Cory Booker- An interesting choice but with some serious weaknesses as he is a Wall St hack and seems inauthentic to a lot of people.

Who else does Wordforge think will run on the Democratic ticket in 2020?

What do folks talking about big city mayors like Mitch Landrieu of New Orleans? Or Eric Garcetti of L.A.?

Can some of you tell me about promising Dems from the midwest?

There are none as far as I know, Out of curiosity you do know that not one of the possible Democratic candidates you mentioned is from a state that is in play in the 2020 elections don't you?

Angus King should go Democrat and run. He'd have a good shot.

I would like to hear more about Sherrod Brown the Senator from Ohio. He has the right resume and can deliver a key battleground state.

As to the subject, I keep seeing Insley's name in some of these discussions and I really don't get. He's pretty much the definition of Milquetoast Dem. What's he done? Is being a reasonably intelligent ex-jock enough for president?

A dark horse possibility who I'm kind of intrigued by is Amy Klobuchar. She's the senior senator from Minnesota, a progressive with a reputation for working across the aisle, and no real negatives that I'm aware of, besides being relatively unknown on the national level.

I like Kirsten Gillibrand. I'd love to see a President Elizabeth Warren, but she seems pretty sincere about having no interest in running. (She'd be great in the traditional attack-dog role of vice presidential candidate, though...)

Of course, my cynical side says that as soon as a candidate emerges who both (a) could win and (b) would be good at governing once elected, the Bernie Brigades will descend on them with knives drawn for not passing one ideological purity test or another.

That has always been the problem with you. If one treats female candidates exactly like one treats male candidates then you get all wheepy eyed and start making up more lies about supposed unfairness. I thought I was very fair with each and over all most complimentary to Elizabeth Warren who would likely get my vote at this point, you insufferable mealie mouthed twat.

That is one of the things I absolutely loathed about Hillary Clinton for all these years. Whenever it suited her purposes she was "I am woman! Here me roar!"

But if she came under serious criticism like any male candidate would expect it was the "pretend to wipe away a tear" and say (or have her supporters say) "They're being so mean......"

Let us just review Anc's various slanders about female candidates and anyone who didn't vote for Hillary.

Me: I don't really like Hillary (makes long list about why I don't like her as a candidate none of which has anything to do with gender).

Anc: YOU JUST DON'T LIKE HER BECAUSE SHE IS A WOMAN! ANYONE WHO DOESN'T VOTE FOR HILLARY IS A WOMAN HATING MYSOGONIST!!11!!111"

Me: Actually, I was thinking of voting for Jill Stein as I do not like either major candidates.

    Anc: Proof you hate women!

Me: Ughhh? Voting for a woman is proof I hate women? Have you taken you meds, fool?

Anc: You will only vote for them if they are going to lose; proof you hate them! You must vote only for Hillary or you hate all women!

Me: You are an idiot. :shame:

Thatcher never had to play those types of two faced games. That was why she was so successful (among other reasons) so much so that even people who completely opposed all of her policies still had to admit a grudging respect for the "Iron Lady".

There is a line of thought that woman have been more successful becoming leaders of their government in parliamentary systems (Thatcher, Gandhi, Meir to name a few) because the most important basic function in parliamentary systems is to be capable of putting together governing coalitions and this plays into the strengths of women in assembling people and enabling cooperative efforts.

I saw a newspaper picture from the political campaign
A woman was kissing a child, who was obviously in pain
She spills with compassion, as that young childs
Face in her hands she grips
Can you imagine all that greed and avarice
Coming down on that childs lips

Well I hope I don't die too soon
I pray the lord my soul to save
Oh I'll be a good boy, I'm trying so hard to behave
Because there's one thing I know, I'd like to live
    Long enough to savour
That's when they finally put you in the ground
Ill stand on your grave and tramp the dirt down

When england was the whore of the world
    Margeret was her madam
And the future looked as bright and as clear as
    The black tarmacadam
Well I hope that she sleeps well at night, isn't
    Haunted by every tiny detail
Cos when she held that lovely face in her hands
All she thought of was betrayal

And now the cynical ones say that it all ends the same in the long run
Try telling that to the desperate father who just squeezed the life from his only son
And how it's only voices in your head and dreams you never dreamt
Try telling him the subtle difference between justice and contempt
Try telling me she isn't angry with this pitiful discontent
When they flaunt it in your face as you line up for punishment
And then expect you to say thank you straighten up, look proud and pleased
Because youve only got the symptoms, you haven't got the whole disease
Just like a schoolboy, whose heads like a tin-can
Filled up with dreams then poured down the drain
Try telling that to the boys on both sides, being blown to bits or beaten and maimed
Who takes all the glory and none of the shame

Well I hope you live long now, I pray the lord your soul to keep
I think I'll be going before we fold our arms and start to weep
I never thought for a moment that human life could be so cheap
Cos when they finally put you in the ground
They'll stand there laughing and tramp the dirt down
