Wow. I had heard about the price but now that I've seen the picture.......

You've got to be out of your damn mind to pay that much for that stand.

And for $5000 the damn monitor should include the stand.

You should see the people trying to justify it. "It's for professionals!" which doesn't actually mean shit. I worked for Dell, and the difference between the professional warranty for a corporate guy's $5000 netbook, and the consumer warranty for Joe Schmoe's $400 laptop was non-existent. I handled both with equal speed, care, and used the exact same repair materials and procedures. On a forum one guy said he paid $1000 for a professional case to keep his monitor in. He even said it was essentially just some handles and cheap lining. I told him he got ripped off. He told me I just didn't understand. I replied that I understood he got ripped off. Apparently, I have no imagination for why "commercial" products cost so much more. My answer of "more money for little benefit?" was met with disdain.

Apple sells premium brand, that's all. They're not bad computers, but they sure as shit aren't worth the price people pay for them.

I have an iPhone 8+ and splurge on an Apple Watch. I had three earlier iPhones and didn't really care for them, but the 8+ hit the right notes for me....good phone quality, excellent picture/video capability and easy-to-use apps. I considered a Mini-Mac, but the difference between a solid PC and a Mac isn't justified by the price. I do a lot of audio editing and while there might have been a big difference a few years ago, I don't think there is now...at least to my taste.

I'm pretty sure I've said this before, but I would rather pay for a Windows computer or an Android phone than get a free Apple product.

I'd never buy an Apple desktop or laptop because they're so overpriced, but I've been using iPods since 2010(?) and iPhones since 2012 without any problems.

Apple is no longer the preferred choice of video editors for that reason. They've dropped the hardware ball in a big way, but they've also started gatekeeping the image editing software community.

Yeah, they really fucked the dog with Final Cut Pro X. No one really likes it, but some people have had to make peace with it because that's what their employer decided to buy.

I do know quite a few stations and individuals who edit on Apple laptops and/or desktops, but they use a different edit program (Adobe Premier, in most cases, which seems to have surpassed FCP as the industry standard) and only use the hardware because that's what they already had on hand from when they used early versions of Final Cut.

    My personal phone is Android.

    My work phone is Apple.

I can say without question that I prefer my Android phone, and thank Christ I don't have to spend a dime on Apple's crap.

Supposedly at work, were supposed to switch over to Apple phones at some point. I've had an Android phone, the same one for two and half years. Still haven't broken it either, and over been using it without a case the whole time. Pretty much anyone else had broken their phone, usually within 6-8 months, with a case.

I'm planning on swapping out mine for a new Android right before we can only get Apple phones

Even Linux is better for gaming cause of steam took apple to get to 64 bit os that is security and you can use more video ram and system ram.

I knew we were fucked as a species when designer jeans and bottled water became things.

Just buy used. I just got a used iPhone 7 in mint condition, half price of a new one via Swappa. Works great. My only complaint is the battery life is not great (even accounting for its degradation from being used).

My spouse gets $2.5k a year to spend on Apple products (that run her company’s apps; so this stand wouldn’t count) so over time our entire household has moved over to Apple.

Personally I prefer Windows but free is free.
