No mention of the CDC, which is concerning. They did a lot of the heavy lifting during the last outbreak.

interesting the link was CNN and CNN headquarters (toured the place, very interesting) is right there in Atlanta with the CDC headquarters! Anyway I hope the threat turns out to not live up to the hype - better safe than sorry. BTW side-note is "The Democratic Republic of Congo" the same country as just plain "Congo" which used to be called "The Congo"?
Regardless the virus doesn't give a shit. :bergman: But that brings up another point - let's say it starts to spread. Is the fact that there are constant wars and disputes cultural differences and so forth in the region going to effect any medical/scientific/support teams that are going in to prevent & fight this outbreak? It can't make it any easier or safer that's for sure! All the people involved are true heroes IMHO. :salute:

    It’s complicated.

The Congo is the the Congo river. Also used to refer to the rain forest it drains. There are two countries on either side of the river, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the Republic of the Congo.

I think it used to be one country that split in two:

The plot thickens! The Democratic Republic of the Congo used to be Zaire where Ali fought Foreman in "The Rumble in the Jungle" (not to be confused with "The Thrilla in Manilla") back in the day. And Zayre was a popular department store around the same time as the Zaire fight. Wouldn't it have been awesome if the promoters fucked up and Ali & Foreman fought in a Zayre parking lot? I wish I had a time machine! Oh and there used to be The Belgian Congo at one time. OMFG it would be EPIC is there was a place called The Former People's Democratic Republic Of Congostan.

It should be noted that wordforge is better at keeping gturner out than Obama was at keeping Ebola out of our country.

I am thinking, after remembering Donnie on the dy of the solar eclipse staring directly into the sun, that the only person capable of stopping Ebola might be Donnie little dick. I am pretty sure all those doctors and scientists are just not as genius as Donnie. Therefor he spend as much time as needed looking at Ebola patients with as much protective equipment as he feels necessary until he cures it.

I don't see any danger in any of this considering how smart he is and how healthy he happens to be. Glorious leader probably has natural immunity to all sicknesses ever.

Doubtful, since they were spared introduction to Jenny McCarthy, but there's a whole lot of anti-science and superstition and skepticism of the White Man to work through in some of the hardest hit areas.
