I've yet to meet a single criminal that thought I'd they get caught. No one has ever said, "Hey, I want to go to prison for 20 years, so I'm going to go knock over this C-Store." They all think they are smarter and better than anyone else.

Easier to gloss over as a terrible accident and to leave holes in the story. Such as what Ted did and didn't do after the crash.

Also wasn't caught in a hotel room with a naked gay male escort, booze, and drugs. I don't think even Ted would have survived that one. The family would have shipped him off to the middle of nowhere.

Last but not least: No social media and part of a famous family who had tremendous pull with the media to help downplay it and spin it away.

In 2020 Ted might have had a different result if the same thing had happened to him.

But he wasn't able to beat Jimmy Carter for the job he really wanted and that baggage had plenty to do with it.

Sure. But he still got pretty far and was a big and powerful Senator for decades. If he hadn't died he still might be in the Senate.

But his fuck up still short-circuited his ambition, but your point about the scrutiny of today's social media environment is well taken and well made.

that is true. These days if you fuck up you end up under a spotlight 24/7 from all types of media and analyzed and discussed and spun six ways from Sunday. I don't want to go so far as to says it's "unfair" that everyone is under a microscope these days, but that's the reality. Everything we say, everything we do is recorded for posterity like it or not. It would be behoove us all (no matter what our aspirations or positions) to be cognizant of this!

Just think, when I run for president, what the opposition will be able to do with all my ridiculous brilliant Wordforge posts!

They might end up scaring away several of the 9 people who would want to vote for me. :(

Depends on how things evolve. If the US puts in place the restrictions we have here in France, it wouldn't be. No gatherings of any kind, not even among friends or family, the only exception being those who already live together in the same house.

On the other hand, by the time I get around to running for president, the current crises will either be over, or we will have all died from it...

Seeing as we have a little coke snorting bush elected twice, Clinton and Obama who both smoked pot, and our present coke snorting scat loving president I am pretty sure being in the vicinity of an OD victim and drinking to excess without driving is pretty boring. Seriously, you would suck off of trump's cock at any point despite that being a piss poor idea.

It is so much worse in your eyes because he is black. I would assume every politician ever has gotten drunk to the point of vomiting from official functions at some point. Shit happens. Meeting a male escort is certainly less problematic than things like being brought children to fuck like your republican hero roy moore. Donald trump got pissed on by russian whores given to him by putin. You have your people going awol on the appleachian trail and being found in south america with a mistress they bring home to be their wife.

Gillium is a saint compared to republicans.

    Tererun disagrees!

That's good news. She doesn't think the things I post here will scare away any of the 9 people who would want to vote for me for president.

    I'm so relieved! :)

Is Andrew Gillum’s political career over? The Florida Insiders think so.
‘If that doesn’t disqualify you for public office I don’t know what does,’ one Democrat said.

So the insiders have spoken. We'll see. This is the same state that elected a guy twice for Governor who was responsible for defrauding medicare, medicaid and other federal programs. And people always love a good redemption story.

At this point the only person who would vote for this douchebag meth smoking, alcoholic, male prostitute loving married father of 3 is @Tererun which let’s face it, is probably the worst endorsement anyone can get

I don't think he is running. However, I would vote for him as president over Trump given he still seems to be abetter person and more capable.

did you forget how low the republicans have made the bar with trump? Ae you telling us you would vote for trump over this guy?

So that is a yes on voting for trump over this guy.

The next question is how does that make your butt feel? Is it sort of a stabbing pain, or is it more of a burning pain?

Your response is irrelevant as I already know.

There's also a small bottle of an injectable medicine containing alprostadil (left) which is typically used to treat erectile dysfunction and should never be mixed with alcohol. Pictured right is a toiletry bag inside the hotel room with prescription pills

Looks like a party to me. Personally I would avoid the meth, but I am up for some coke. The pills by the bed look like oxy. I cannot read the prescription or the inscription, but they look like the basic oxy pill. Maybe someone else can account for how much meth that is. I know a couple baggies of coke that look like that are slim pickins for a party of three, but meth may be different.

Oh, and I have left a hotel room looking a lot worse than that, especially back in the day.

Again, three people in a hotel room doing a bit of drugs and having some sex does not seem that horrible. Depending on how well he knew the people he was with, this is really not that terrible. Yes, if that is oxy that is a lot, but if we are talking the typical dental prescription pills they are not the decent ones.

I have been at Dragoncon geek parties with full bars in their hotel room and 20+ people drinking and doing random other drugs in the bathroom. These are sci fi geeks who did not get out of hsnd and were all talking about their jobs, computers, and fandoms. I have rented hotel rooms for a party simply because they were near bars and we did not want anyone vomiting at a house or to have to drive.

OK, dude OD'ed which is bad, but they were not driving around town. That looks like a decent hotel room which means they were not planning on being too rowdy and hurting anyone.

I am not saying the optics are not bad for re-election, but as for doing the party thing he seems to have been responsible and even though it may not be politically good, it seems at least a harmless to other people way to party.

Prescription bottle says "GABAPEN"-something, I think, presumably gabapentin. Didn't think that was a party drug.

It's an anti-covulsant. I take it for "restless leg syndrome."

Yeah, I took it for nerve pain while I had shingles. Made me spontaneously projectile vomit. Like, I went from totally fine to MUST PUKE NOW in the space of about a second. Can't imagine it's a good party drug, unless its anticonvulsant properties are to counter some other drug's side effects.
