I currently have an iphone 8. I did not buy the phone, it was a gift. But, it's getting ... weird. I do not want to have to spend a thousand dollars on a new phone. But, I do like the security of apple and lack of viruses.

    Any suggestions?

Doesn't apple make a $400 iphone now? I'm PC/android and get whatever is cheap. My wife's apple annoys me. Maybe it's her and not the phone, I'll have to think about it.

I'm not aware of any phone viruses that are more common on Android than Iphone. Maybe it's time to switch? You can spend $200 and get a really nice android, or $100 for a functional one.

Android is slightly more prone to viruses than iOS. The iPhone SE is fairly cheap as are last year’s models of iPhone.

Believe it or not, I am STILL rocking the iphone 5. My copilot last week (tech savvy thirty-something) laughed his ass off at me and said it was worth ZERO as a trade-in. I believe him, but the little sumbitch still works just fine!

I get all the updates. I don't think the memory is ... approaching full. But, sometimes I don't get my text messages and have to restart the phone. Yes, I do this anyway, but I shouldn't have to several times a day. Also ..., sometimes, calls go straight to voice mail rather than the phone ringing.

Are these issues others have experienced? Should I take it to be serviced? or does it just need a trade-in?

Do a factory reset and then let it run through all the upgrades. Any pictures etc stored on the phone would be erased so make sure they're backed up to "the cloud".

Buy literally anything else than an iPhone. Maybe an early 2000s Razor? More reliable than an iPhone, and you can use headphones with it!
