How can wording be both "accurate" and "ambiguous"? Aren't they mutually exclusive?
It accurately describes her situation, but it could very well describe an alternative which was.....humorous
There should be no loops in your family tree.
he was joking about it this morning (some little clip maybe on the news) saying we have to help him beat this because he recently signed a three year contract and he has to see it through!
The phrase "Alex Trebek is either a game show host or a transvestite serial killer from Botswana with a suitcase full of depleted uranium" is both accurate and ambiguous.
Even before I found out about Trebek's cancer I was starting to lose my Jeopardy enthusiasm. Not to pick on a guy in ill health, but I'll be honest here:
sometimes it seems like Alex is just praying for categories involving any foreign (or foreign sounding) words just so can over-pronounce/enunciate the shit out of them.
Much like newscasters can't wait for shit to happen in Latin America just so they can play the "look at me! I'm pronouncing it better than any white person can!" game. Color me impressed.
Okay that said I hope Alex beats the cancer then retires gracefully.
Apparently, he's got no fucks left to give.
Dang. Insofar as anyone who has pancreatic cancer can be described as lucky, Trebek is one lucky guy.
While it doesn't guarantee success, I'd imagine part of that is because he has a lot of money to spend on really creative therapies that regular insurance would likely balk at covering. Still, this is very good news, and I hope for full remission.
It's the celebrity immortality juice from "Death Becomes Her".
That's still no reason to wish him dead!
Just saw this piece about a new treatment for pancreatic cancer. Interestingly, it seems some forms of it are caused by the same genes that cause breast cancer. https://www-m.cnn.com/2019/06/02/health/pancreatic-cancer-brca-treatment-study/index.html
Cancer really knows no bounds.
He says he's nearing the end.
I was on the Jeopardy set two weeks ago. No Alex Trebek, but it was cool just to be there.
He's still optimistic.
It's been one year since he was diagnosed and he's still here. He's also still donating to charity.
Who is Dayton Kitchens?
Well, fuck me. I thought he'd be gone but I'm so glad to be proven wrong.
I hope he continues to buck the odds.
I'm not dead, yet.
I'm in the contestant pool for the next season of Jeopardy!. Crossing my fingers that there is one, and that he's hosting it too. Seems unlikely until there's a COVID vaccine. Johnny Gilbert is like 95. Trebek still has cancer. Can't risk them catching it; they're international treasures.
Not sure that I'd classify Alex Trebek as an 'international treasure,' but okay.
Holy crap - that’s awesome! Fingers crossed that you win piles of cash!!! I would be terrible at Jeopardy. I can get the wordplay type ones and the science ones, but I fail at history and geography. Always wanted to be on Wheel of Fortune. I kick ass at that one.
The authors and poets always kill me. Just gotta keep studying.
