I'm only interested in certain specifics, so the "kinda-sorta related" suggestions are worthless to me in this instance.

I need a book that gives the Soviet experience of World War II. Not merely accounts of what happened at Stalingrad or other particular places during the war, but the whole war as experienced by them. Something which focuses on their armored divisions would be great, again, provided it deals with the whole war, and not a particular battle.

I'm also interested in biographies of Patton and Eisenhower which cover the PRE-WAR years to a large extent. I know of plenty of stuff which talks about the years and so on, but it's the pre-war stuff that I need. (I used to have a bio of Patton, written by someone who served under him in the III Army that covered the pre-war years quite well, but I loaned it to a friend, never got it back, and he's dead now, so I can't ask him what the title of it was.)

Claws of the Bear is a good book about the Soviet Army from the revolution through the late 80s. I haven't re-read it since probably the mid-90s, but WWII is a pretty big chunk of the book.

That might work. The Kindle version's cheap so even if it ain't perfect, I won't be out a lot of money for the book.

It's a novel and I haven't read it myself yet but apparently Life and Fate by Vasily Grossman covers the first of your requirements and is very, very good.

For the Soviet soldier's experience in WWII, you might check out Ivan's War by Catherine Merridale.
