It's gonna be something. Even if you're not a fan, seeing a movie that's the culmination of almost ten years of movies is gonna be interesting. I just wonder what will happen after this?

    Nice!

I think there is definitely room for both Marvel and DC franchises...

But, man, releasing that trailer so soon after the failure of Justice League is like rubbing salt in the wound.

I didn’t see Ant Man, Wasp, or Hawkeye in the trailer but I’m sure they are around somewhere...

Sure, the room is there. There just isn't a DC franchise to fill it.

Can't help but feel the "But this is fun!" line is a dig at the distinguished competition.

I don't know. I have mixed feelings about it. More superheroes fighting CGI villains, except this time they threw in EVERYONE and the kitchen sink. Seriously, is there going to be any time to focus on character development with fifty fucking actors all fighting for their few minutes of screen time?

Thor: Ragnorak was a hoot with minimal characters in a fun situation. Thor, Hulk, Loki, Valkyrie, and Galadriel.

Spider-Man: Homecoming was the same, with Tony Stark and his driver in a couple of small scenes.

You could tell Justice League was a huge fucking mess from the trailers trying to shoehorn in too many super heroes. Now Avengers: Infinity War is doing it as well....on steroids!

I predict the movie will be a total mess with a few fun cameo scenes.

But Infinity War has characters that have mostly all had solo movies already OR had major roles in previous ensemble flicks. Justice League didn't have that.

Yes. Plus if it's anything like Civil War, they've managed the art of making even the fight scenes about character moments. "Queens!"

While movies usually have to stand on their own, and set up their characters even when they're sequels, I think Marvel can probably can get by without too much depth on most of the characters in Infinity War. We're now, like, 20 films into the MCU, and Infinity War is the culmination, so most people are going to have some existing awareness of all these characters. I expect we'll get a pretty good focus on each of the core Avengers (especially Iron Man, Captain America, and Thor) but that the secondary characters will be handled lightly.

Captain America: Civil War had a pretty huge cast, but I don't think it came up short in the characterization department. We didn't spend a whole lot of time in that film getting to know Rhodey, for instance, and yet his near-death was still pretty impactful. Would it still have been for someone who had never seen a Marvel movie? I think so.

If Infinity War parallels the comics, then Cap will be the Last Man Standing against Thanos, at least until the cosmics show up. Don't think at this point we're going to see Warlock, tho you never know, but Captain America is the one punching Thanos in the face after everyone else has fallen. "I can do this all day."

How does that work? I mean, he's got super strength and a tough shield, but his powers are limited compared to others. Thanos would kill him quickly.
