    I shit you not.

I'm in a Santa Monica sushi bar and J.J. Abrams is sitting eight feet away from me. We're two of the three customers in the place.

I played it cool. Said or did nothing. We made momentary eye contact when he first sat down and I think he saw I recognized him. He took off his glasses and he's substantially less recognizable. Was him no doubt, though.

His production company, Bad Robot, is only a few blocks from here. It's disguised as "The National Typewriter Company."

I find it quite believable that Abrams prefers his food undercooked too.

Seldom does he appear without glasses...

...but I wonder if this is so he can take them off in public and go fairly unrecognized.

I should have my second celebrity sighting on Sunday. I get to do a meet-and-greet with William Shatner!

I met William Shatner! Got a fist bump and exchanged a few pleasant words. 87 years old and still a forceful presence on the stage.

I'll put up my photo with him when they release it.

6"1". Although I'm considerably taller than him, he's sitting on a tall stool, exaggerating our height difference.

Saw another celebrity--of sorts--in the same venue I saw Shatner. I went to see Jordan Peterson's "12 Rules of Life" show; the place was packed; about 3000 people in the audience!

I have no idea who that is. But he's wearing brown shoes with a blue suit and therefore has no credibility.

I didn't notice that until you mentioned it. I wear blue jeans with brown work boots and it seems pretty normal. But I guess blue suit & tie type of clothing doesn't look right with brown shoes.
I know two things about fashion.....jack & shit. Either way I'm glad I don't have to wear a suit! Weddings & funerals are the only times I'll ever be in one.

That’s absurd. Brown shoes with blue suit is classic. So long as it’s a brown belt to match.

Peterson's Canadian, and the host made a pretty good joke during his introduction.

Q: "How do you get 20 Canadians out of a swimming pool?"

an all meat diet is not sustainable in the long run. Humans evolved as hunter-gatherers, thus that's what makes our systems run the best - a wide variety of nutrient rich/calorie poor diet. Granted eskimos and that African tribe that only consumes cow blood are exceptions to the rule - but if you grow up as a child into these lifestyles, your body would be used to it. But to throw yourself into an all meat diet suddenly is an accident waiting to happen.

My first celebrity sighting was in LA in 1986, right before I started my first year of college. Walked past Lyle Alzado from the Raiders on Sunset BLVD. He had a smokin' hot blond on his arm and I didn't even notice him at first- my dad had to jog my elbow and say something before I even realized who she was with.

I've since met far more than my fair share of celebrities, sports figures, politicians, and what not after almost 20 years of my current gig. They run the gamut just like everyone else: some are cool, some are a-holes. Sometimes those labels apply almost exactly the opposite of how you might imagine.

    Definitely.

One of my cousins used to work at this place in the mid-90s: https://dolphinquest.com/dolphin-quest-oahu/

They used to get a lot of celebrities as clients.

He said that of all the ones who visited, Tom Hanks was by far the biggest asshole. Just a total jerk in how he treated the staff there.

Didn't you fly Nicole Kidman once? Because I loves me some Nicole Kidman.
Wow, that's surprising. He has a reputation of being such a nice guy.
