Link. Apparently this critter is an earlier relative of T. Rex, with the grim name of "Thanatos," short for "thanatotheristes degrootorum" or The Reaper of Death. This would have been an apex predator in its range.

14 million years before T. Rex.
Easy to say, hard to fathom.

IIRC, stegosaurus lived closer to our time than they did to T. Rex.

Other way around. T. Rex was at the end of the Cretaceous, while Stegasauroids were middle-Jurassic animals.
