A coal fired power plant that's sort of on the way to a restaurant that I like to go to 2-3 times a month. You can see it from the main road, but to go by it, you take some back roads.

This pic is about 3/4 mile away.

    Power1.jpg

These two are from one of the main roads, these are about 1.5 miles away. Used the zoom on the phone to get these.

The cooling towers are 380 feet tall, the two taller smoke stacks are 1,000 feet tall.

Judging by the coat, I think I'm about 19-20 here.

Fun fact-I'm still in jail at the time of this pic. When the announcement reached them, I'd been in seg for a few days and thought I was getting transferred when called into the unit manager's office.

notable is that it was where the words "You may fire when ready, Gridley" were uttered.

good thing you don't have a swimming pool - Yogi would never leave! Yeah, you might have to get your ass down to Home Depot and spend a few bucks for those replacement boards!

I've got slats, but those damn horizontals are rotted thru. Nothing left to nail onto. I'll never understand why they made the fence with weatherproof cedar slats attached to untreated... no wait, yes I do. I've already had to replace the whole thing once. They only last 10-15 years. Next time I buy vinyl.

I'll have to make mine when it starts to cool off. It has deer meat, pork, steak, pork belly, and chorizo.

it's a very healthy looking bear! No mangey coat, and looks well fed. I hope nobody frightens it and it runs into traffic or attacks someone and has to be put down! :(
I've got my fingers crossed that it wanders off into the sunset alive and healthy.

When I was living in NY, I found a bear pushing and leaning against my truck one morning. The asshole manager I had didn't believe me when I called in saying I was going to be late. Took a picture, got to work about an hour later. He still was an asshole when I had him look at the picture. I was less than a month from moving, so I told him to get fucked and left.

My wife was warning a neighbor about the bear on her walk this morning, when the bear ambled out of the woods and became a handy visual aid. :whoa:

One of my wife's coworkers found a bear sleeping behind her car one morning. She had the same problem with her boss. She called the police, but they said policy was to let sleeping bears, ya know... So she had to wait for it to wake up and toddle off.

yeah bears are kind of used to being at the top of the food chain, so they don't like being disturbed or interrupted. And they hate surprises of any kind.
