Can we not save pictures here anymore? How do you guys post pics that aren't attachments but where the pictures actually show up in the post?

Load pictures to an image hosting site, click the icon for inserting an image (the little mountainscape between the smiley icon and the video icon), then copy the image url. I generally use tinypic.com, which you can use without creating an account, but there are a lot of options.

When you upload as an attachment, click show full instead of thumbnail when it shows up under the text.

Yeah, I have that same problem. Too much malware floating around the image hosting sites, I reckon.

^^That's what I don't get: How do I prevent the full image view being replaced with the attachment link in quotes?

Probably a quirk of the forum software.

Yeah, and something I've seen on other, shall we say picture centric forums. My guess is that it's a bandwidth saver -- don't serve up the image multiple times.

That's what it is. There's a workaround, but I'd rather not employ it, since it will:

    A) Take up bandwidth
    B) Show the attachments at full size in the quote
    C) ????
    D) Profit

Can you get on Facebook? I discovered by accident that this works. I have a closed group for close friends - sort of the equivilant of the Blue Room here - which I don't use for a whole lot of posting (don't want to ask my friends to listen to be whine every day, but I digress)

Anyway, if I post a pic to that group, I can save the image location and use it here and it shows. Your group wouldn't even have to be an actual group, just a dark corner of facebook that you can use to host the pics (however, if you were posting artsy photography your friends might like that would be one way to show them off without putting them in your public feed if you had rather not do that)

I like your FB rants and value the perspective offered ^^

There's some public debate in Toronto (specifically at the UofT) around the intersectionalities of Trans vs Tumblr Genders with an authoritarian left combatting a (self proclaimed) anti authoritarian right. Our younger, hotter version of Anne Coulter (Lauren SOuthern, google her) has inserted herself as a figurehead for free speech... rather painfully, I should add. The issue is less freedom of speech and more like freedom from proscribed speech, i.e.; personalized, customized pronouns in the classroom.

Having access to your thoughts on social/ethical issues affecting the actually trans population gives me a moderates view on what are often polarizing topics.

If I had a better way to stay in contact with all of my friends (99% of whom live far away from me), I'd use it. Unfortunately, Facebook is what they use. That said, I use the Fluff Busting Purity extension to keep FB's mitts off most of my info.
