No one is going to do anything about it. If anyone does, they are immediately accused of being "jealous". The masses will continue to allow this and nothing will ever change.
Carpool lanes are for commies anyway.

Where else would you directly mock them wearing that dress? Seems like a good place to tell them to get taxed.
Does T.R have daytonitus? Someone check if he has feet.
Oh no, an elected official from New York was invited to an event to which elected officials from New York are often invited, and she went.
Ah may faint.
To her credit AOC is usually pretty good at practicing what she preaches
Not so much in this particular instance
Is it not part of her role to attend such functions?
If I got a free invite to a pretentious 30k a plate fancy event like the met gala, and probably a free dress tailor made for me I would be there in a heartbeat even though I am well aware I would probably hate most people there and not want to talk to anyone. Yes, I would be willing to wear something that mocked the pretentious snobs there that made sure I would not ever be invited there again.
maybe it is not a thing for all women, but I love the idea of getting dressed up in a big dress and sipping fine drinks in a sparkly venue. It is like a prom or wedding thing, and I have spent some of my own money on getting to events like that. I am not even bothered that the rich have their pretentious events. Just like AOC I do not want to tax them to the point where they cannot have have their fancy galas. I actually hope they can appreciate the night and it enriches their lives. You can do that without having so much money you destroy things for most people.
There is a reality to her dress in that she is probably going to never get invited again because of what she wore. She got a free invite and probably a free designer dress, and used that free stuff to call out the rich on their selfishness at their own party. She did not tone her shit down. She did not sell out because she is pretty much slapping them in the face with her freebies. She did not try to be what they wanted so she would get invited back again. If she had paid 30k, gone there in a fancy dress, and hobnobbed like kristen sinema while campaigning on being a progressive liberal then yes she would be a sell out
That is not selling out.
No, it is not. That is not part of the job. I will say it does work into the lifestyle of many politicians, and given what she did it works into her message as a politician, but she could have not gone.
Equally she could choose not to speak to constituents or bother trying to make policy surely?
I dare say working to rule probably means turning up to Congress a certain number of times and voting on a certain number of proposals.
Most of everything else is discretionary (albeit advisable and expected) surely?
I just would not put it as a requirement of the job because that ends up being logically problematic. A person can serve in the way they want to.
How you put it to dipshit lubby is pretty close to correct. It is within the realm of things you could do as a politician that would forward your reputation and agenda. I just object to the use of the word role as being sort of a requirement of the position. It is not like if she did not show up it is a dereliction of her responsibilities, but I agree it is a understandable way to forward the agenda she was elected to promote.
I was just making a sort of word use complaint while clearly your meaning was understood and I think we have agreement.
Part of her role? God no
She has built herself on being a woman of the less fortunate and this event is one of the more elitist, rich, who gives a fuck about the poors things you can attend
It’s not a good look, based on her own platform. She’s getting caught up in the shit and before you know it she’ll be another sell out politician
This got a lot more attention for her cause than not going would have.
She turned up in figure hugging dress, explicitly designed to catch the eye (it would catch mine at least), with the phrase "tax the rich" plastered over it.
That hardly feels like a sell out to me.
It is all just a sexist attack on AOC for having an opinion which ultimately triggers some part of Ton of lube for sexist reasons.
