I don't think there are enough anti-vaxxers to matter. It's not like you need 100% vacccine coverage to eliminate a disease. Smallpox (and to a large extent, polio) is a thing of the past despite the existence of anti-vaxxers.

I'm guessing it will be similar to the flu shot. As this virus mutates, people will probably need to be immunized annually. Eventually there may be a combination vaccine - flu and COVID-19.

None of which does any good for people who are immuno-compromised, but as more and more school systems are refusing to admit unvaccinated kids, and their ignorant-ass parents home-school them, maybe the little germ factories will be more isolated from the rest of us.

I've started calling that Reagan's genocide by apathy.

We should all start calling it that because it's true. :async:

The virus appears to have a lower mutation rate than the flu does, so the key question is how long would a vaccine confer immunity, which we don't know yet.

    so far.

We've had measles outbreaks for example.

Reportedly some 30-something percent say they will refuse a vaccine and thats too high, remains to be seen how many will stick to it.

probably more than one thread I can - and will - put this in but - it's worse than maybe you thought it was. The White House decided that politically there was no upside in spending on a nationwide testing plan because it was only Blue State voters suffering and dying:

This could have been released without the editorializing in the beginning, but it's still significant:

    Should we ban packard?

BERLIN (Reuters) - Thousands marched in Berlin on Saturday to protest against measures imposed in Germany to stem the coronavirus pandemic, saying they violated people’s rights and freedoms.

Ban away, it's time. Because that report actually makes it sound more coherent than it was. The idiots demanded, and I quote (and translate), "an end to the virus". The rally adopted the slogan, WE ARE THE SECOND WAVE. I have no words.

We went to Highlands, NC last weekend. Its honest to god the first straight up, me and the wife going on vacation, just us in over 20 years. The town had a mask mandate that was strictly nenforced, but it was a great trip. I highly recommend it. The hotel we stayed in was 150ish years old.

Highlands Inn. They took good care of us. Made us reservations at restaurants...suggested where to go...it was great. I've never experienced concierge service before.

Never been there, but not too far from my home town. West of Asheville.
