The prettiest girl in the world just said Hi to me.

I have zero chance, but still I'm sitting here with a great big grin on my face.

And -? Any chance you'll be "here" again and see her and, because you're shy, maybe have a script prepared for what you'd say to her? C'mon, what have you got to lose?

Having said that, in my observation the prettier (or handsomer, in the case of men) they are, the less likely they have to try to be anything other than eye candy. She could easily be an airhead. (Or at least you can comfort yourself with that thought if you never see her again.) :mrsa:

Life's too short. Got to give it a go.

Unless this is an "I saw a celebrity" lead in.

See her all the time. I think she's spoken for. She's not an airhead.

Doesn't mean you can't talk to her, and try some casual flirting. The biggest regrets in life are not taking the chance.

A new girl started here at work a few months ago, who I see every morning in the cafeteria. Latina, probably about 24. So pretty I can't believe it. Smiles and says hi every day. Yep, young enough to be my grand daughter. But I still hear "Maria" from West Side Story in my head every time I see her. Sigh indeed.

every time I passed up an opportunity for romance because I couldn't read a woman's hints & signals (which would be 90 percent of the time)
I told myself she probably had VD and/or a jealous psycho heavyweight fighter husband nearby, so it's best we didn't get together anyway.

Slight, But she speaks in such a soft kittenish voice (and it's so noisy in the caf) it's hard to tell with just the usual casual greetings.

Oh, I do and I will.

But my expectations are reasonably set.

Why, I'm old enough to be her...her...her way too conspicuously older boyfriend. :diacanu:

Wanna quench the fire? Buy her a coffee and ask her how she feels about Der Drumpfenfuhrer. Guarantee you you'll get dowsed with either hot coffee or an ice-cold latte.

Yeah, mods, I'll take a warning for that.

it would be were it not likely true.
There's a lack of empathy implicit in identifying as right wing/conservative that to younger folks (especially women) casts a man of middle years as not only an obstacle, but also an adversary.

If you can't concede the notion of white male privilege, then you probably don't know (or care) how to find the clitoris either.

why the facepalm over a simple fact?
political positions, especially as relating to socio-economic inequities, are a lot more significant to forming intimate (let alone any type of) relationships than ever before.
A recent Pew Centre survey puts support for Trump/Republicans at the lowest point this century among women 18-34 (23% and falling).

It's within the topic of why his (or any other middle aged conservative's) chances with a younger woman are fairly slim...

These are women who went through post secondary education considering the notion of rape culture only to see a man elected who personifies it.

I think it's pretty good advice (that stemmed in this thread from a woman) to keep a lid on having voted for trump... at least if you want to give the slightest impression of respecting womens issues.

explain the virtue signalling please? I'm not gaining anything, let alone moral high ground by sharing a relatively common point of view. Not like it's even my own conclusion, but what I've heard from women that age.

I mean, everything from Vice to Fox to Business Insider to Esquire has made similar points about how in that age cohort the current administration is so unpopular that to be part or parcel of it is a dating deal breaker. Seems many women are still holding onto that "grab'em by the pussy" thing as somehow disregarding their personal safety.

Besides, seems only the Trumpeteers are angry about it... /shrug

do you know a lot of Hispanics? I do (mostly PR but some Mexicans & Cubans, etc) and a lot of them are conservative. But I'm sure you knew that already what with all the PR folks running around in Canada, right?

actually, yeah... I'd have to say I do between neighbours and guys I meet on job sites. When I was making doors three of the five of us were from south or central america. not too many Puerto Ricans or Mexicans but plenty from the equatorial countries and Spanish Caribbean though.

Most of the folks I know who lean conservative that also live in the city are HK Chinese or Israeli... but again, most of those are also folks in their 40 or 50s who own small businesses. The younger folks generally skew a bit left of me.

Google Kensington Market to get an idea of the multiculturalism I'm immersed in.

Oi! I have never been involved with anyone named Bob. There was Lenny, and Ken, and Vinnie, and Ed, and...but Bob? AYFKM?

As for @Paladin's little dilemma...actions have consequences. Nuff said.
