I can’t even see the post.
Look at the terrorists, terrorizing people.
Straight out of the fascist playbook and something that folks have been complaining about for a while now. I really do not envy the first Democratic President in the post-Trump era. Obama "merely" had to fix a shattered economy and play nice with our allies. Biden, or whomever it might be, is not only going to have to fix the economy, deal with a pandemic, patch up hugely fractured international relations, but also oversee massive reforms in our government to prevent anyone else from doing what Trump has done.
Neither can Volpone or Jamey Whistler.
I'm sure that Paladin will be overjoyed to learn that folks are suing to stop this.
Don't know if it was mentioned elsewhere, but the restraining order the ACLU won against the jackboots in Portland includes the judge's finding that the Federal "troops" do not have the authority to close local streets making their claim that they were arresting people who refused to obey orders to clear the streets bogus.
They'll just get Portland PD, a willing accomplice in all of this, to close the streets. That's an old trick.
Our main street through town is also a State Highway. Municipal Police can't close State Highways, US Highways, and Interstate Highways. That requires an Alabama State Trooper. So, before Parades we'd just call the Trooper Post for our area and whatever supervisor was on duty would just verbally okay the temporary closure.
Yep, but it's a little bit of "red tape" they have to clear. I'm always suspicious when cops complain about "red tape" and "technicalities" and how they want to make their work more "efficient".
Agreed. That's why the response to this whole thing must come from the Federal Legislature or the Federal Courts. We're not going to see State, County, and Municipal Law Enforcement facing off against Federal Law Enforcement in the streets. Portland PD has been a willing accomplice in all of this, going so far as to put tape over their name tags and join in on the "fun."
Either the Mayor really has no problem with it or Portland has experienced a loss of institutional control. If the latter, it is a travesty in and of itself. I'm not sure which is worse.
Yeah, police are always all "why can't people just trust us and our judgement?" Bitch, we're part of a species that's so dumb and full of cognitive biases that we can't even trust scientists to science correctly without double-blind experiments and such. Why should we trust your MAGA hat wearing ass to treat people fairly when your profession has hundreds of examples of people who shouldn't be trusted?
Yes, police officers wear MAGA hats on their asses. I dare anyone to prove otherwise.
The mayor of Portland....
Got tear gassed by the feds!!!!
Got confirmation? I think we would have heard something by now if this were the case.
Probably he found out about it via Twitter, which no one should ever have anything to do with because it is just such a garbage fire.
Good thing Pelosi is fighting to fund these people for Trump. We would not want to let their funding expire after they do all of this.
He also seems to have inspired a movement among vets.
Which reminds me, green laser pointers are a protestor's best friend.
For $500 you can buy a green laser that would almost certainly permanently blind someone. It'd also be really handy in taking out a drone, I'm sure.
Please send help to our country.
fucked up if true
I didn't know Sarah Jessica Parker was relevant anymore, or that she was in Portland
Well the mayor got gassed the other night and the protests are about police overreach and violence, so...
This is one of the many things I love about this board. This is going to go up there with the fat lady on the bus and .... (morning, no coffee yet) all the other things...
On a more serious note, I did hear the mayor of Portland got gassed the other night.
Dinner's all the way gone. That little fucker would defend showers and ovens.
You act as if this is a surprising or recent development.
