Damn I love those! I bought those to pass out for Halloween but (inevitably) I "got high on my own supply". :( If you keep Krackels in the fridge they are super-awesome! Oh and tiny York Peppermint Patties too!

Yeah, I didn't miss that part, either. :brood:

I hate that shit .. I had a guy on one of my ships complain about "Why didn't my GF stay away from her ex? I told her he was creepy!" when talking about her rape and my reaction was :wtf:

And then there was a story ten years ago on a soap I watched that was written specifically because the actress was sick of bouncing between the same two guys....only for the rape to end up becoming about the worst of the two guys playing hero and the two reuniting yet again....until her son dates his daughter, but yanno...soaps. :|

I'm only half-joking (being half-Irish myself), but he is Irish. :bergman:

This. In some little sneaky corner of his (or his publicist's) mind, he might have thought "With all this talk about blackface and the increasing racism in mine and other countries, maybe I should get out ahead of this before the tabloids dig it up." But I'd like to believe the need to mention it now came from a genuine attempt to show that people grow and change and have second thoughts about things they've done in the past.

Don't you think it might've had more to do as promotional material for "Cold Pursuit" coming out (a revenge movie in theatres today). It is said to be Neeson's final "action picture" as he thinks he is getting too old for the genre.

This Pakistani hijabi I work with was talking about this today. Her big hang up was that Liam Neeson was getting so much shit over it, when different people acting the same way are treated with at least some level of understanding. When Muslims attack Christians in the ME over a Muhammad cartoon drawn by someone in Denmark, the same people condemning Neeson will make excuses for the Muslims. "Hey, they were angry, that anger had to go somewhere." She asked if we'd be just as angry at a Black guy that considered killing white people after hearing about yet another white cop shooting an unarmed black person.

Well that backfired. They cancelled the premiere even. Stopped the press junket.

I cannot speak on the racial feelings that arise from what he said, but just as a person this claim is violent. Why is no one discussing the similarities to school shootings and other out of control violent actions that come from the idea that punishing unrelated people for one person's actions is really out there? It is not very comforting he limited his hate towards an easily victimized segment of society because it is easier to be violent towards black people without consequences. Yes, it makes it worse and highlights a problem, but he went out looking to beat unrelated people up.

Now I have to look at his movie roles a lot different. It is one thing that an actor will play a role they would never do IRL, but this behavior shows he does not have that full disconnect from his movie roles. That is a mental problem. This is a guy who has made some humorous jokes but his movie violence. I remember he did a clash of clans commercial where he threatened other people over his game. That was funny because he was an actor and I thought he was in control. Now he is wandering down the street in uncontrolled rage without any direction. He is literally idolized for his action hero roles where he seeks revenge for life events.

On top of that his behavior is reflective of the racism that justifies attacks on blacks and treating all of them as criminals for the actions of a few. This is a mistake we see around here from racistforge. You have to show him and them that there are consequences for such insanity. You know there are people around who will see no consequences for Liam and think he is a hero and be guided by his actions. I get his point to start up a conversation, but society has to punish these behaviors to show idiots they are unacceptable.

To be honest I'd deliberately avoided the school shootings analogy for fear of derailing and politicising the thread. so bear in mind folks I'm not overtly making an anti gun argument as such here.

Had he had a gun instead of a cosh the likelihood of him killing would be much higher (bearing in mind how much easier it is psychologically to kill with a gun). Would we that case have been so willing to offer him such leeway in terms of judging his intentions?

Maybe this is a good anti gun argument, and since there is no shooting and it is all about him expressing an idea to talk about now is the time to discuss gun control because we are not reacting to a bunch of people dying, we are being logical and making decent arguments.

I know the gun nuts are going to squawk at this, but maybe this sort of thing is why no one should have immediate access to a gun. Maybe there should be a place where your gun is stored and you need to write in three days in advance to get it out of lockup. Also having a reason to get it out of lock up should probably be part of that law also. The three day waiting period on a handgun is great until you cross the threshold and buy one. I do notice a bunch of people who are hotheaded enough to plan to shoot someone that they plan ahead enough to make sure a gun and ammo are on hand.

In paintball the people who shoot up the town with paintball guns are not the people who rent the gun at the field because they do not have access. Maybe because guns are so problematic in society you don't get to have them readily available at home, and most people can get by with renting a gun to shoot at targets. Then the maintenance and storage is left to the professionals and not the idiots who look down the barrel to see if a bullet is in there.

I think Liam should be a bit more cautious considering what the black guy did to him in episode one.
