HOW MANY BOOBS WILL SHE HAVE
How much you wanna bet she spills a drink on captain Freeman?
I watched Q-Who again recently and, apart from finding Lycia Naff a goddess, I also noticed something - her accent and manner of speech is VERY similar to that of the actress who played Lt.Cmdr Susanna Leijten in Identity Crisis. AKA the woman who used to be Geordi's "big sister" (but he had more natural chemistry with than any of his possible romances). And they looked like they might be going the route of making Gomez a romance for Geordi in her two episodes... wonder if that played into their choice of actress for Leijten?
Ooo! Plot spoiler for the season finale.
Oh noes! You remember at the end of last season when everyone was panicking because that clearly meant that Boimler was leaving the show? Only he didn't. Also, remember how everyone was upset that Shaxs was dead and never to return? Except that he did. Yeah, so...
Seriously. A major character in Trek hasn't been killed off, or written out of the show, since TOS was in first run. (And technically not even then.) This is just to get people to go
Like on TNG when the Enterprise would blow up right before the commercial break. You knew that things would be back to normal by the end of the episode (or at least by the end of the next episode in the case of TBOBW, but even then you should have known that things would be normalized before that episode aired).

Without reading that spoiler, if it's Freeman who dies (or fake dies), I'm not looking forward to ten months of possible screaming from Cartoon Twitter fandom accusing the show of being racist and misogynist because of this.
Trek's been my vacation fandom....if I wanted debates about rep, I'd jump over to Steven Universe or what's left of the Voltron reboot fandom.
Mileage will vary, but for my money the following would be major characters killed/written off since TOS:
Regular Universe Georgiou
I'm excluding characters who died/written off only to come back on a regular basis (like Bev Crusher), or who died/got written off basically when the show was about over (for example, Trip or Sisko). I'm also including only characters who were series regulars (as opposed to, say people like Damar, Weyoun, or Kai Winn who were IMO major characters)
Was TBOBW written the way it was because they weren't sure Patrick Stewart was returning for season 4 though?
Re: the episode, wow what a master class. I haven't been this excited for a next season since the end of Enterprise season 2 had them heading towards Xindi space.
I usually wait a day before discussing the episode but I can't wait;
All in all, a 12/10 season and easily the best Trek I've gotten to follow first-run. Now I don't feel mad that I paid $9.99 for this otherwise garbage app because I refuse to give B&B any views until CBS ends that racist cuckhold story there. But LD has been a breath of fresh air.
Such a good show.
It's been a long fucking time since a show or movie got a 'Holy what the actual fuck o.0' from me.
Some thoughts on a second watch through: Damn some of the lines were good foreshadowing.
The solar flare plot device was ironically very timely considering the geomagnetic storm we had two nights ago.
The stripped down Cerritos, dayum!
Is the Archimedes an Excelsior class? That is one sexy vintage design
Some plot elements that I have in a novel I'm writing, scenes written out a couple years ago. At the risk of some stupid fuck claiming I'm cribbing from this episode, I'm pleased that my idea holds water. And yes, 'water' is very relevant
This was one of the least humorous episodes of the show's run and that was to it's benefit IMO. Between this and last week's episode, I love they aren't so boxed into one style of story writing, which plagued all the Berman shows to various degrees. They go the direction the story calls for. I'm here for it.
On a tangent to this, TrekBBS is where I first heard the acronym WTF after season 3 ended with Space Nazis, which I'd never seen used so often on one thread before or since
This was WTF in the best way possible and a good way of subverting expectations.
Six What the Fucks in one episode. Wow.
ok is it August 2022 already? cause I really don't wanna wait that long to see the next part of the story
Nah, new class but part of that lineage.
Died in like the 8th episode of the first season but the actor kept re-appearing as either Tasha or a relative of hers.
Was on the show for one season and was largely forgettable in her role (not helped by the fact that it was a shitty season).
Returned in Nemesis (if not before).
Returned at least once. (Or her mirror counterpart did, which is effectively the same thing as the original character returning.)
Was killed off in like the first episode and almost immediately replaced by her mirror-universe counterpart who became more like RU Georgiou as the series went along. Hardly a major character.
Technically we don't know for certain if he's dead or not and as Disco's still running, it's entirely possible that they could bring him back.
I can't believe this show just did this to me. Haven't felt this way about a Trek episode since the TNG/DS9 era. There were a few episodes that I would consider "filler" episodes this year, but that doesn't mean that I didn't enjoy them. I have to say that the way they end their seasons so far has been great Trek!
Boimler is on his way to a promotion. Rutherford too. Tendi pretty much got hers in this episode. It will be interesting to see how Mariner reacts to her latest crop of friends possibly moving on without her. I almost hate to say it, but this show has made me realize how lackluster my feelings are for Discovery so far. Picard started out well, but sort of fell apart towards the end, AFAIC. Lower Decks feels more like the Trek I love.
Did not expect the To Be Continued... That's some TBOBW shit right there. Loved the dolphins, funniest part of the whole episode and nice call back to TNG technical manual. I'm still sticking to my prediction about Gomez spilling a drink on Freeman, but it could be someone else. It'd be hilarious if it's Picard again. This show really brings back the look and feel of Star Trek that I grew up with, I love it.
Fact: TNG's best episode was a Riker episode.
In the words of Lindsay Ellis: Thanks, I hate it!
1. I still want a holo-Archer episode with Bakula.
2. I want that to be the theme for just that episode.
So I have to wonder what happened to Freeman's reports to Starfleet re: Pakleds.
I'm guessing some dishonourable cowards in the Empire blew up the Pakled homeworld to cover up any trace of Klingon involvement and managed to frame her, make her look like the equivalent of a fireman starting fires just to put them out.
I figured the Pakled clumpship Pakled actually got the second bomb from the Klingon BoP just before the Cerritos and the Vulcans showed up and they did a second test on Pakled Planet
wow... cetaceans are kinda inappropriate banter, aren't they?
You have no idea.
I gotta say, as cliffhanger endings go, this was pretty lame. First of all, while Riker might have passed up promotion any number of times, any organization like Starfleet would have considered such things to be career enders and tossed him (and Freeman) out. Secondly, there's not been anything established in this series to indicate that Freeman has the heart of a genocidal maniac lurking within her, so the idea of her going all "Deathstar/Nero" on the Packled homeworld is a stretch akin to Trump getting the Nobel Prize in Physics or something. Nor is it anything that Mariner would do (even by accident), so it's clearly a feint, and a poorly telegraphed one as well. The best that they'd be able to do would be to have Freeman replaced by her Mirror Universe counterpart and that's the one who did it, but I can't believe that they'd actually do something like that as well.
It wasn't a terrible episode but not one that has me on tenterhooks for what's going to happen next season. There's just going to be a formulaic runout that's not terribly satisfying.
