Wasn't Rikers father in "The Icarus Factor" basically a civilian adviser to Starfleet at that point? Seems natural Will Riker might gravitate toward a similar position.

Who the hell hasn't Troi been with? Betazoid hussy, just like her mother.

Borg queen was pretty rough though. Not sure even Picard would hit it.

Even in her Borg Queen form, she's weirdly sexy, but younger Alice Krige was just...oof.

Worf couldn't have been all that. Ezri had all Jadzia's memories about him AND checked personally to make sure the memory didn't lie, then still chose Julian.

Unless he was augmented downstairs too.

He didn't seem to be too concerned with the safety of that particular shipmate.

Hmm. Seems like a few links to Voyager being made. I wonder if there'll be anything similar for DS9.

I know. It just gets worse and worse.

I really hope the show knocks it out of the park, but the ever-increasing ties to Voyager are really getting me concerned.

Never liked Jeri Ryan. Never liked Robert Picardo (he might be a nice guy, but I can't understand the fan love for him).

Disagree. I could see individual worlds wanting to disown the ex-Borg, but Starfleet isn't gonna let ex-Starfleet fall into other hands with all their delicious Borg knowledge and Starfleet secrets still in their heads.

Fully agreed. I thought Jeri Ryan's "Seven" was written too obviously to be a "cool ice princess". The male fantasy of a cold, unfeeling blond woman whose sole purpose is to look sexy but because she IS cold and unfeeling, a man feels no obligations toward her.

To me Jeri Ryan and Jolene Blaylock have both suffered from the Farrah Fawcett curse. So stunningly attractive and sexy that they continually get saddled with absolutely dreadful movie and television roles. Been watching Saturn 3 (Fawcett) lately for some reason.

Maybe it has something to do with Alex Kurtzman, you know, the writer of your beloved Kelvinverse. Just saying.

In my book, Picardo is a good actor and Ryan is great, and both roles had and still have a lot of potential. On Voyager, they did their best with the bullshit they were handed. On a good show, they could be really good additions.

This. They are both good actors when they were given good material. Ryan was especially good on her limited time on Boston Public. Picardo has been acting for ages and is consistently good. He was even nominated for an Emmy for his role on The Wonder Years.

The problem with current Star Trek is a symptom of the problem with most of Hollywood.

Creative bankruptcy. People who have the ear of studios and other content producers have no idea what to do now. It is one reason that at least half the movies and television shows being produced today are in some way remakes of previous productions.

The problem of course is that studios and others are obsessed with each television show or movie being a sure thing. So you have the near endless remakes, prequels, sequels and what have you.

So people can go into the meetings with those who approve productions and say "See this is based on a television show that averaged ten million viewers a week in the early 90s" or "The first version of this movie made 30 million on its opening weekend in 1988".

I'm willing to give it longer than I gave Discovery simply by virtue of it involving one of my favorite Trek characters played by probably the best Trek actor. And taking place after the events of the Trek timeline I grew up with. That gives me a little more emotional investment than Discovery ever did.

Certainly, if it's crappy I'm gonna bitch about it but still watch every episode until it's cancelled.
