The problem with CBS All Access is that other than the new Trek shows, it has little to offer. Anecdotally speaking I don't know anyone who subscribes to it who isn't a Trek fan.

Paramount+ will not only add content not available through the CBS service, but as @Tuckerfan points out, the name itself is more recognizable. Trek itself has been associated with Paramount for decades.

Dude, everyone know that he has predicting that Kathleen Kennedy was going to be fired for years. You don’t have to watch his channel to know that. I don’t watch his videos, but even if I did so what? Oh you think he’s a Nazi. What a laughable claim not based in reality so I don’t know what you think you “caught” me on.

Given that Prodigy is Nickelodeon, the gears were probably turning for this deal for quite some time.

I subbed for Picard, watched two seasons of Discovery, and dumped it. A lot of good classic programs, but I don't want to spend time with that, so...

From a business perspective, it makes a lot of sense.

Right now, CBS All Access is US only. Folks on the rest of the planet, if they want to see new Trek (legally) have to subscribe to Amazon Prime, Netflix, etc. Paramount is a known quantity around the world. If Viacom wants to make CBS All Access a global success, then they've got to spend a lot of money getting people to know that they are such a thing. That eats into their profit margins. As does licensing Trek to other streaming services. Merging Paramount+ with CBS All Access is no big deal. They only have to "educate" consumers in the US, not the rest of the planet.

If, for example, 10 million people globally subscribe to Paramount+ for Trek (and possibly The Twilight Zone), while previously 20 million people watched Trek via other streaming services, Viacom comes out ahead, financially.

I wanna see Beavis and Butthead making fun of NuTrek. That alone would be worth paying for Paramount +.

March 3rd, according to my app.

About fucking time, because the content for CBSAA was thin as all fuck and I hated paying $10 for one network for three shows.

    (Circa 2017)

Me: "So, CBS All Access, what do I get for my $10 a month besides Star Trek?"
CBS All Access: "Join CBS All Access, and get Star Trek plus many shows from our CBS lineup!"
Me: "...so what do I get for my $10 a month besides Star Trek?"

It was like UPN all over again, except we had to pay for it, and the streaming quality was just shit for a long time, too, because their servers couldn't handle it.

My sub is currently cancelled since no new Trek is coming out. If P+ seems to be doing well, I may start back up early, but until Picard season 2 is out, I don't plan to re-up until then.

I'm currently paying for Netflix, D+ and Amazon Prime and when Star Trek was coming out, CBS AA. I honestly don't think any of them are worth it... except maybe D+. They seem to keeping my interest after releasing The Mandolorian and WandaVision back to back and plans to get Falcon and the Winter Soldier out right after that.

I got D+ which I watch a bit of. My kids rarely watch it which is interesting. They mostly watch Netflix. I got Hulu too but it’s bundled with D+ and paid for by Verizon data plan. Also have Amazon prime but I use that for shipping me stuff in two days. And I have Peacock now too but it’s free via my xfinity internet. No TV. I sub to CBSAA when Star Trek is on. And by on I mean a week before a season ends so I can Binge it. Which for DSC is an emotional rollercoaster so I’m told.

There have been basically four non-Trek things that I've watched on CBS AA: Perry Mason, the mini-series The Stand and both classic and Jordan Peele Twilight Zone.

The Stand was pretty crappy. Jordan Peele Twilight Zone was hit-or-miss plus is now canceled. Perry Mason is fine TV to just play in the background while I'm doing something else.

Also remember, Discovery's arc was always planned as 5 seasons, so they've only got 2 to go anyway.

I don't mean Babylon 5 level planned, but they had the fuzzy outline of every season being a mini-arc, and would puzzle together into the larger series arc.
There may HAVE been a series arc, but it clearly got thrown out when Bryan Fuller left.

A fuzzy outline is all they’ve ever had with Discovery. There’s zero thought out into that show, it’s just action set piece to action set piece with filler script bot dialogue in between.

Pull Doomcock's hand out of your butt.
You're fudging on his elbow, and the smell is hitting the crowd.
