If you look carefully, you can see the Moon in the background.
That's no moon...
What's really interesting is all the cities and towns you can see radiating away from Buenos Aires. You can even easily make out Bahia Blanca.
I read the thread title too fast - I thought it said ISIS! Strange, because their batting average on "funny" pictures/videos is in the basement lately.
The moon looks too large, cool photo but it looks photoshopped. Here's the apparent size of the earth and moon in another ISS pic.
The moon used to be much closer millions (billions?) of years ago. Tides would have been 100 feet or something like that if we had oceans then. My point being if the moon were that close today, life on earth for humans and many other species would be difficult at best.
Agreed, that and the light balance is impossible, daylit earth with city lights, stars visible (with daylit earth). This is at least three pictures put together.
I don't know. Found it on Twitter and don't remember the source. There is a shot taken from Columbia on, I think her final mission, over the cargo bay, with the Moon behind her and the Moon looks giant.
Yeah, that moon is way too close. We'd all be dead from the tidal surges.
Could even be enough to cause seismic activity as well.
true, I brought that up in post #6. But for people who like to surf giant tides would create more opportunities.....all the way to Nebraska!
Ah, I see. I posted after seeing the picture, before reading anyone else's posts. While it would be interested to surf to Nebraska, I, uh, like the Moon where it is.
That would be a cool science fiction movie - the moon either getting closer or getting much further away. Lots of movies about the sun, but not much about the moon.
Jeff Goldblum would make the movie pretty awesome! Mark Wahlberg would shit all over it.
Now I want to see a Jeff Goldblum sci-fi moon movie.
The image in the OP is cool, but it's clearly a construct.
The moon IS getting further away. Little over an inch a year.
Agree! But his ass better be in for more than one short scene! He better be the star or co-star at least. Speaking of I'm going to research his jazz piano music just to see if he's legit, though I have no doubt that he is.
Okay I researched it - it's #1 seller on the jazz charts with 3,000 albums sold. Seriously, jazz is the least marketable music - it's not for everyone, which is why I like it.
The upside of the album is he does a cover of Herbie Hancock's "Cantaloupe Island" which is one of my favorite songs. On the downside is the album uses a STRING SECTION! which I hate with all my being. I would like to hear Jeff in a trio with his piano, bass & drums. Possibly a quartet, with a trumpet as the fourth instrument. That's my favorite lineup on many of my favorite jazz songs.
Looks like a movie poster!
