Surprised there hasn't been a thread started about this yet. The Patriots in their 11th Super Bowl (9th for QB Tom Brady and Coach Bill Bellichek) while the Rams are in their fourth overall (two were while they were the St. Louis Rams).

The Rams have a better record but I suspect the Patriots might end up being a slight favorite given the Patriots in the playoffs this year. have beaten teams with better records in consecutive rounds.

Someone on MSN coined the Patriots as "the dynasty that refuses to die". In terms of age and experience it will be the classic "youth versus experience". The oldest QB to ever play in or win a Super Bowl (Brady) versus a young newcomer (Goff). The youngest head coach in the NFL (Rams) versus the longest currently coaching head coach in the NFL. (Patriots Bellichek).

I was so happy to see the Patriots make it to the Super Bowl again. I'm hoping they win this year and the next two years before Tom Brady probably retires. Make it utterly impossible for another QB to ever win so many Super Bowls.

Some records should never be broken.

I went to the Rams-Cowboys game a couple weeks ago in LA. Here's hoping my team gets it done vs the Pats!

I just can't get interested in football, I didn't even know the superbowl was this Sunday until last week. But I do know who Tom Brady is, only because of Ted 2.

I honestly don't know which team The Patriots are playing against. I just saw a couple of minutes on the news at a motel this weekend about the super bowl saying Tom Brady is the oldest quarterback to headline (is that what football calls the most important quarterback on the team?) a super bowl.

I just know I'm glad I don't have anything planned in Atlanta this weekend - what a chaotic madhouse that place will be! BTW I saw that stadium in July - it's hideous! :yuck:

I had zero plans on watching the game. But I'm over at my sister's the dinner, her significant other is a huge football fan, all the game is on. But no one is really paying attention to it.

    4th Quarter, 3-3 score.

Neither team wants to score because they know the winners go to the White House.

While the lowest scoring Super Bowl ever with 16 points total (the previous record being when Miami completed their perfect season by beating Washington 14-7) this was also the largest margin of the Patriots six Super Bowl victories at 10 points.

Their previous margins of victory being 3, 3, 3, 4, and 6 points in that order.

Congrats to the Patriots and Tom Brady, but that is by far the most boring Super Bowl I've ever seen. Total snoozefest from start to finish.

Yeah very boring game. Boring commercials and half time show too.

Congrats to the Pats for winning a sure thing.

Not a Patriots fan, not a Tom Brady fan. But I will say: if you had to pick someone else's life to live, you could do a lot worse than a pro-football QB with 6 superbowl rings who marries and/or impregnates supermodels as a pastime. Dumbass that I am, I'd still probably pick Pappy Boyington or something. But I'm just sayin'...

I don't consider defensive struggles boring. When you're up by less than a touchdown it adds tension in my opinion knowing that you're just one big play away from losing the game even if you've been ahead the whole time.

When you have games with scores in the 30s or more from both sides, what does it matter if you are 10 points behind? You can make up that margin in a couple of minutes tops.

Are you such a good pilot that you could successfully fly combat missions while drunk? As Greg Boyington allegedly could (and did several times).

It's not something I'd try, personally. Alcohol and heavy machinery don't mix.

In that day and age, Boyington almost certainly wasn't the only one- he was just candid about it, and an admitted alcoholic by the time he got around to writing his memoirs. In this day and age, with the complexity of the aircraft and the speeds involved, I wouldn't recommend trying it. :necro:

I read that Boyington later commented that his health actually improved during his 20 months as a POW due to the enforced sobriety.
