So we have the disease, red tides, fires, and this

There are locust plagues in africa.

I think these are signs of huge weather related disasters and flooding. There is going to be a lot of death. I am not arguing the reason, I am just looking at the signs.

Indeed - both the Antarctic and Arctic are experiencing rising temperatures at a much faster rate than much of the rest of the world. A lot of people think temperature rise is a linear thing, and if where they live has gradual and minimal change then the rest of the planet follows suit. Also polar ecosystems are very fragile and limited in variety.

All species die out eventually - but most don't take other species with them when they go. But humans are the most widespread and influential (whether for a good or bad benefit to nature in general) so we can indeed take a lot of other species down with us. We are too successful for our own good!

oh I almost forgot a song to go with this thread! I had the LP with this song on it in the early 80's. I only heard it once or twice so I can't remember if it's good or not.

Seriously though, all we need is a great earthquake and perhaps a volcano somewhere to blow up.

the Yellowstone Caldera is bubbling away as we speak. When it blows I wouldn't want to be anywhere near it!
