    This writer at least:

The Pivot Is Real, And It’s Spectacular

Trump doesn’t like McConnell and Ryan, and never did. He likes Chuck Schumer, and knows Chuck always makes money for his partners.

I feel that it's a bit optimistic and gives too much credit to Trump. I'm not sure he has a long term strategy.

Also, as Republicans have learned it is a lot easier to get a caucus to reject stuff than to vote for it. It will be interesting to see if Trump does try to govern through Dems on infastructure, taxes, healthcare etc if the Dem leadership can deliver the votes any better than Ryan and McConnel.

I don't think he has a long term strategy either which why I think it's dumb. So what, we continue borrowing money we can't pay back and the tax payers keep getting hit and there's no tax cuts and no spending cuts, no thanks.

Donnie is a sociopath. He needs to be lurved by...whoever happens to cross his line of vision at the moment. He's a place-holder for Mike Pence, and the GOP are just holding on until he's put in the requisite number of days so that Pence can (A) assume command and (B) run for a  potential two terms  in 2020.

I give less credit to the people at the federalist than I do the new York post. They have a narrative they are trying to preach and it influences all of their opinions making them very unreliable.

They are trying to put some plan into trump's actions and he does not have much of one. However he knows if the US government shuts down his money and the money of other rich people is in danger because the US default would ruin its credit rating and that would have broad economic effects on investments and government contracts. Trump makes empty threats but his friends in the money world have told him to make sure the US does not go bust. It is bad for business. Donald will make threats about his wall for the sake of his base, but at the end of the day he keeps the government going and is not going to risk economic disaster for some social points with his base. It is all about the money with him and everything else is just him blustering for the gullible useful tools in his base.

I doubt there is any real thought or reasoning behind this one action beyond he wants to be seen as doing something. Honestly, McConnell is correct that it would have been better to go for an 18 month increase in the debt ceiling rather than a 3 month one. Ironically, both parties have switched places on this issue since Nov's election showing they are both hypocrites.

Trump doesn't seem capable of any long term planning and so he always gets played. I don't see that changing. He just doesn't have the capability or experience nor even the interest in learning. I strongly suspect his desire to be seen as delivering aid to bright red Texas was his primary motivation and he didn't think much beyond that.

Trump better watch out. The moment he starts looking like he is a democrat friend is when the republican congress will impeach him and put pence in charge. That is one of the few things that will get the republicans to impeach him. You can have a the Russia investigations you want, but at the end of the day you will not get them to impeach. If trump starts working with the dems he will be out before Christmas.

Republicans in Congress are fucking idiots. No matter how much they may not like Trump he was on their side. He would sign bills they passed. The Republicans could have gotten stuff done.

But because they kept being fuck-ups that has driven Trump, WHO IS NOT A CONSERVATIVE AND IS ALREADY AT THE CENTER, right into the Democrats.

Now Trump is going to learn a hard lesson when the Democrats stab him in the back. Trump is making the same mistake Bush 41 made. You can't trust a Democrat. They are going to get what they want and when 2020 rolls around Trump will find a bunch of knives in his back because the Democrats will refuse to uphold their end of the bargain.

When Obama became President and the Democrats picked up both chambers in Congress they realized that they might not be able to hold onto Congress for very long and they got their act together and they acted. They got Obamacare through.

Please, like the GOP weren't just hoping for Trump to be a rubber-stamp on their own shit and then dumping him for another candidate in 2020...

    How dumb can you be?

The GOP in Congress hasn't done shit so how can Trump be a rubber stamp?

They've completely failed to take advantage of this situation.

He did plenty of EO stuff they pushed past him. That they couldn't actually get their shit together in Congress doesn't mean they weren't expecting to.

Executive orders are what he did.

    Not what Congress did.

    Big difference.

And the bulk of his EO's are rescinding Obama's executive orders. Like DACA which was 100% unconstitutional.

Gotta love how Z phrases all that as if Republicans are honorable and trustworthy statesmen who work acorss the aisle for the good of the country taking no care for party advantage in their gleaming white hats while those dastardly mustache-twirling black-hat Democrats constantly pursue their nefarious deeds.

Gotta love how you've turned into one giant fucking pretentious cunt. Oh wait.....

No you're exactly the same as when you were Shepherd or whatever the hell your name was.

A fucking pretentious cunt. It's just you changed politically. Still a fucking pretentious cunt though.

    The more things change.......

Let's look at just this very thread on what I said about Republicans:

"Republicans in Congress are fucking idiots. "

"But because they kept being fuck-ups"

Not the words of someone who would view the GOP as honorable and trustworthy statesmen.

You can go look up what else I've said about Republicans but we both know you won't do that because you're too busy being a pretentious cunt.

There mistake there was lying and saying the most conservative plan out there was some how "Marxist". That is why they couldn't come up with anything better and why their "plan" consisted mainly of killing medicare (which has been around since 1965) and giving a big tax cut to the top 1%. It was so bad and had so little to do with providing affordable healthcare that the Senate couldn't stomach it.

The majority of Republicans were privately against it as a disaster for both the nation and the party but they knew they needed cover to head off primary challenges. That is why they found the three least vulnerable Senators to take one for the team.

if they are all backstabbers, then you really don't add anything to the discussion by calling one party out as backstabbers.

You're right of course, in general both parties are deviously seeking partisan advantage at every turn, but you said:

"Now Trump is going to learn a hard lesson when the Democrats stab him in the back. Trump is making the same mistake Bush 41 made. You can't trust a Democrat. They are going to get what they want and when 2020 rolls around Trump will find a bunch of knives in his back because the Democrats will refuse to uphold their end of the bargain."

If all politicians can't be trusted, you are stating the obvious and being incomplete, if you meant what you said then the obvious implication is that it is the Democrats specifically who are duplicitous.

I was just reacting to your own words. You have chosen to revise and extend them so

For the second time in two weeks Trump has gone over the heads of Ryan and McConnell to strike a deal with Pelosi and Schumer. This time Ryan and McConnell weren't even invited to the meeting.

Is this an actual pivot? Is Trump just pissed at McConnell and Ryan? Is he just trying to clear the deck for Tax Reform?

To be honest, the fact their base bought that buncha horseshit in the first place proves you could front-stab 'em and then hit 'em over the head with a truck filled with dynamite and their neurons wouldn't register it until the next electoral cycle.

the reporting has it that on a personal, non-policy level, he really doesn't like McConnell and barely tolerates Ryan, while he personally gets on well with Schumer and is okay with Pelosi - and given how he places a huge value on his personal interaction with people, and is obsessed with recording a "win" at all costs - plus being highly impulsive - kind of creates fertile soil here.
