What is it you guys love to say? "Guns don't kill people. People kill people."

We're taking you at your word. It's not the guns that concern us.

Yes, if by "good" you mean "playing right into my feverish paranoid fantasy world."

Actually, that probably is what you meant.

The shoe doesn't fit. You'd have a much more productive advocacy of gun rights if arguments didn't begin with batshit insane statements like that.

When I first started posting here, I supported gun control, although it wasn't an important issue to me.

After posting here for a while, the one issue on which I could say my mind had been changed was gun control. The benefits just seemed to be too marginal given the cost and difficulty of enforcement. Certainly I was convinced that the idea of spending political capital on gun control was a really bad idea.

Now I've pretty much come full circle. Apostle, Marso, and several other of the gun advocates on this board are full fledged lunatics I wouldn't trust with a dull plastic knife, much less a firearm. More and more on the news it seems that they're representative of all too large a proportion of gun owners and advocates. Guns are not toys, and they're not tools to further your paranoid delusional secessionist militia fantasies, and people who treat them as such really need to be kept unarmed. If that takes broader gun control, so be it.

Well, there's no source or author, so we'll just have to assume this piece of tripe came from the paranoia-addled mind of some weekend warrior Libertopian teabagger holed up in his "compound" with a dozen pallets of rotten canned food and "Red Dawn" stuck in the DVD player.

That's the thing. I rarely encounter anybody for whom more gun control is an important issue, even if they're nominally anti-gun as part of buying into a complete ideological package.

More and more, people just don't give a shit. You'd think the gun nuts would be happy about that.

And literally no one I know is clamoring for a return of the Fairness Doctrine. It's not even on the radar.

    Pure right-wing paranoid delusion.

If that's what you truly believe then you contradict your own argument. For surely if all of us lunatics are out there, then YOU would be far safer with a firearm and some training. Right? Because in your mind, lunatic = criminal, and since

that would mean that you are surrounded by criminals with guns. A prudent person might consider arming themselves for self-defense, eh?

I still think people like you are simply afraid of yourselves, your own lack of discipline and self-control, and you project that on to others. I've been a CCW holder for years, no criminal record, and for my job I've already passed more background checks than you ever will in your life. I carry a weapon every day and have never once flagged it to anyone, much less drawn it.

Of course, I must be a lunatic because for years I've been predicting the country would come to a boiling point while you've yucked it up, throwing out your 'chicken little' labels and now branding folks like me as lunatics. Now you are beginning to see it happen all around you and your only answer is to bury your head deeper in the sand. You've already proven you don't know shit about economics and it's readily apparent you don't know shit about much else, either. Son, for your own sake you had best wake yourself up, unship your head from your ass and start paying attention to what's happening all around you. A lot of your countrymen are already WAY ahead of you.

Could we maybe not let this one devolve into another "It's not pure, textbook socialism, and no baby steps in that direction warrant mentioning the word!" dick-waving contest?

I know what you mean. I'm not an advocate of any kind of gun laws other than common sense ones (ie, if you're blind, mentally ill or a felon, you can't have a gun, etc), and have never seen any point to banning certain kinds of guns and bullets while letting other kinds be sold legally. I have no fear of guns, I don't want to take anyone's guns away, and I think the right to bear arms is completely legitimate.

And yet, there's a big part of me that would love to see the 2nd Amendment declared null and void, just because it would make so many people on WF rend their garments and weep.

Maybe that means our resident gun nuts aren't doing their side of the argument much of a service.

I got as far as "With a socialist and would-be totalitarian in the White House".
You guys wouldn't know a socialist or totalitarian if it fell out of the sky with 'totalitarian socialist" written on its t-shirt. The democrats are sooo far away from any description like that its not funny.
The differences between your major parties is bloody small, and they are both right of centre.

If the 2nd is ever declared "nulll and void", you'd best be prepared to watch all the other ones follow in quick succession.

    :wtf:

    :eek2:

That has to be one of top dumbest statements I've ever read on Wordforge.

If TSHTF, Marso and apostle are 2 that I would trust to watch my back. There's not a GunForger on this board that wouldn't trust with my life. Our GunForgers know what the hell they're doing and how to do it safely.

No, we can't, because it's not any form of socialism, steps in that direction, socialism-lite, sugar-free socialism, anything remotely resembling the fifth cousin of socialism or steps in that direction. The statement is directly out of fantasy-land, and if it's not to be a part of this discussion, it shouldn't have been included in the OP.

If that doesn't immediately strike you like a MOAB detonated on your head when you begin reading the article, there's something wrong with you.

For 'dumbest statements ever' on WF, I think Liet, Henry, and a few others have a monopoly on about the Top 100. Throw in Cass and Garamet and they've got the Top 200.
