Figured we may as well consolidate this bullshit into one thread.

He's pardoned a few folks since assuming office, but let's keep track of all the criminals, convicts and perverts that he pardons between now and January 20, 2021.

You know I just looked it up because I wasn't sure - in Canada the Prime Minister cannot pardon people, only recommend them. Rather the frickin Governor General (in rare cases) can pardon people

Makes sense. The U.S. President is also the Head of State (similar to the Governor General).

Gee, I don't know why a country that borders a nation with the world's largest military budget and is currently being ruled by a low-rent crime syndicate would have any interest in our criminals.

You cannot blame them. With global warming and biden as president a lot of the white christian oxy junkies will be able to move more north to escape the biden presidency. Their evil santa, randy quaid, is already sending them signals on where to migrate. Unlike the decent hard working latino people coming to the US for opportunity and work, this white trash is armed rapists and criminals. Shoot anything with an american flag and a neck beard anywhere near your borders my canadian friends.

Point of order: isn’t the Queen your Head of State with the Governor General her appointed proxy?

Yep. The reigning monarch is constitutionally the Head of State, but for all intents and purposes the GG does the day-to-day job.

Indeed. In fact if Liz got directly involved with Australian politics (relevant since we have a very similar system to Canada) it would likely result in her role being revoked.

Say, weren't there state charges pending against Flynn that were dropped without prejudice because of the federal case? Given that accepting a pardon is an admission of guilt, one would think that'd be slam dunk evidence for Virginia prosecutors.

Or am I thinking of a different Trump toady?

I believe that there were other cases where Flynn had taken the fifth when called to testify. The pardon means he can’t do that for any questions related to the actions for which he was pardoned.

Fosters tends to be brewed locally in the countries where it is consumed, by a multi-national corporation. The only Australian thing about it is the hops used. :async:

It isn't even sold in most bottle shops here, and it's been years since I saw it on tap in an Australian bar.

These days the Imperial touch is a lot lighter. Even in the Cayman Islands, which is still a Crown Colony, the British Governor is very discreet with his/her power. IIRC, the Governor has the power to veto legislation before it goes to the local parliament, but that's something that I can't recall happening whilst I was there. It certainly could be that His Excellency made it clear at a Cabinet Meeting that such legislation would not pass his muster and so quietly died without him taking direct action.
One thing that did happen was that the current Governor (after being ordered to by the U.K. government) used his power to force the government to enact laws forbidding discrimination against homosexuals, something the elected lawmakers would never have worked up the nerve to do.

yes I saw a brief bit about this before I left for work. It's a veritable PARDONGASM. BTW is there an absolute limit as to how many people a president can pardon? And are there limits to the type of criminal he can pardon? Yes I know it's for federal crimes only, but could a president pardon a mass murderer for example? Just wondering.
