    Season 9 started last week.

After the phenomenal season 4 of Fear The Walking Dead, the showrunners of TWD needed to knock it out of the park.

    They didn't.

    Same shit, different season.

P.S. - I'm not joking about FTWD. Season 4 was like a whole new show and it's clearly better than the last few seasons of TWD.

It just really is not what it used to be. I remember there used to be a few episodes in each season that made me go WTF and I could remember them. Now it just goes on. I finished the negan arc and I think I am going to take a break. I will just go with the fantasy carol took over and killed all the dead while starting a new society dominated by powerful women who have fucked up shit happen to them.

The new showrunner is better than Scott Gimple, but you can't fix Carl being dead, and Rick about to be dead.

Gimple spitefully mortally wounded TWD on the way out.
Like the guy who dips the last slice of pizza in the toilet, and puts it back.

Dear God, is that a thing? That better not be a thing.

Sounds like the show's title is getting very accurate in a meta-sense.

No, I almost went with claiming a slice by licking it, but what Gimple did was way worse, so I had to crank it up a notch.

You also can't fix the fact that the source material (graphic novels) have sucked ass for the past few years as well. Mind you, the show has departed significantly from the comic over the last few years.

We gave up on it maybe two episodes after the one where Neegan killed Glen and that other guy.

It sucked at first, got a lot better once they left the farm, then got sucky again.

Lost interest, especially when there are so many other shows out there that are way, way better that TWD ever was.

    Aw, then you missed it.
One episode after that, everyone consoled each other by having an orgy.
And it was real! Full penetration!!
    On TV!!
They'll never air it again, and it's not even on the DVDs.
    You missed it forever.
That'll teach you to slack off.

    Jesus.

Three episodes in this season, and I'm honestly cheering for everyone to die.

Just get it over with, AMC, and put this show out of its misery. It really has become... wait for it... The Walking Dead.

Final episode, everyone's dead, and just then, Morgan and his crew roll in with tractor trailers full of supplies and toys, get out, see the carnage, and are like "oooooohh....awk....ward...ssss....yeowch...:calli: :whew:".

I’m at the episode where Negan announces he’s going to turn everyone into zombies by covering them in zombie guts. And I can’t bring myself to watch the next one because that’s bonkers and contradicts the rest of the series where people cover themselves on purpose.

I saw the episode last night but was on the phone with my daughter at the time trying in vain to multi-task. is going on? Is Rick dead...alive....something else entirely?
BTW the show The Talking Dead has no volume. Yep - for the past three weeks that show (and only that show, no other show or channel on my TV) has no volume. Every couple of minutes the volume will work for about 15 seconds then goes back down. Weirdest thing I've ever seen.

Just caught up on it. The UK tv announcer said it was Ricks final episode, within a few minutes right at the start in the junkyard scene i called how it would unfold. Wife wasnt having it, we get to the end of the episode and i turn to her to give it the big i told you so and she was in floods of tears

Daryl shedding a tear was quite moving, the rest was pretty standard stuff. I liked how thry did it though. Opened the door for facemans TV epidodes or for the heroic comeback when they wrap the show up and Rick comes back to lead the world.

Theyv been building it for two series now? We have seen the helicopter a few times in the last couple of years and now we get some kind of payoff.

I’ve never read the comics that this is based on, so my take could be completely off base but I’m guessing that they are now actually building for a wrap up ending. There is obviously some kind of safe place somewhere with technology and power that still operates. The world hasn’t ended in this place/outpost. Whether these guys are good or bad is yet to be seen although no doubt they are bad. Rick is now however in with them and it coincides with (Andrew Lincoln) wanting to move on and do new things. Now they didn’t kill him so I would expect that they can wheel him out again in a glorious return when things get to their crescendo in a few years time.

It will be interesting to see what Lincoln does next. He’s a rare breed in that he has been able to lead on multiple shows, really making the part his own. Actors are often known for their career highlight and to date Rick Grimes is it due to the international success, but those of us from the UK of a certain age can just as easily relate to him as Egg from This Life or Simon from Teachers. I expect he has another big role/show ahead of him before his career is out.

It was obvious. The helicopter for a couple years now. To get off the series he would have to either die, but how to elevate his death given his character arc, or be removed geographically in a rapid and involuntary manner.

If AMC has any brains, this is the final season of TWD.

I never watch any of these after show/fan things but the wife took Ricks exit quite bad  so she watched the Talking Dead last night. (The episode from Rick leaving).

I watched first 10 minutes. Director/producer guy was on it, says they are expanding the universe. Not just TWD, fear walking dead& ricks story, he was talking about going to other places across the world, back in time, forward in future, bringing old characters back. It did sound a bit much of StarWars can do it so we might as well.

A blatant money grab and for me, not really something firing my imagination.

I think the zombie thing has been beaten to death.

If you haven't seen season 4 of FTWD, you should check it out. At least it had some sympathetic characters and interesting plots.

But I can't see TWD universe being sustainable in the long run.

It just hit netflix and I am realizing part of my annoyance with the show is the commercial every two minutes. I might actually watch it if I don't have to keep sitting through commercials.

Haven't watched the show in a long time, but as long as Rick is still leading the group, and Glenn and Maggie are happy, I could see myself getting back into it. Can't wait to see what kind of a man Carl has grown into. :techman:
