...and why the haters can suck an egg.

"I'll do better on the next take." :weep:

Her reactions when she meets Coldplay and then when Jonny Buckland hits the riff are genuine and priceless.

I don't care for the song but she sings well. Yet mumble-mouth whisperer from The Walking Dead Billie Eilish wins a gazillion Grammy awards!
The music business is FUBAR to the extreme. Change my mind!

OMG!! I haven't seen this video since I was a kid and the context seems to have changed. Look around 2:50 to 3:40. What the hell is that bartender/butler doing? :wtf:

sorry about that! But it stayed on track longer than expected. BTW I have zero idea who Jodie Whittaker is. There ya go! Now you have motivation to keep the thread going - school me on this woman!

There's not much more to say in a positive thread.

Our board misogynists are cowards, they need an excuse to go after Jodie, and she hasn't given them an excuse.
They're waiting for some Brie Larson type thing to blow out of proportion.

wow Diacanu threw a monkey wrench into this...maybe? What am I missing here? I'm not going to google her - that's no fun. Who is this Jodie (I assume she's a singer) and what's the big controversy?
    Sell me this thread!

Actress, not singer. The singing in the clip is for charity. She's the first female actress to play iconic sci-fi character The Doctor in Doctor Who. And she's utterly lovely.

If there's any "controversy", it's that a bunch of misogynist twonks have been complaining about the choice to make the Doctor female, as if an alien who is over 2000 years old, travels time and space in a 1960s Police Box and can regenerate every single cell in their body when near death might just find altering their gender whilst doing so a tad too much of a stretch...

thanks for clearing that up! Not taking a side here but I'm curious: has Doctor Who broadcast any new episodes with Jodie as the new Doctor? Is she doing a good job of it? That's the litmus test of whether it made sense or not to put her in that role IMHO. Or have the episodes not been made yet?

Bottom line if somebody can do the job well then let them do it. But keep in mind misogyny is the reason straight up misogynists don't want her in that role (no shit Sherlock) but misogyny may not be the reason to remove her from that role if she just doesn't perform well. This is just IMHO as a complete outsider and speaking in very general terms. Fans of the show will be the SME on what she brings to the table.

I certainly have nothing against Jodie Whittaker as a person or an actress. I don't even actually dislike her version of the Doctor. I guess the Peter Capaldi era started to make me lose interest in Doctor Who, and in truth I think my interest in NuWho peaked with David Tennant and started to decline even with Matt Smith. I started watching Series 11 with Jodie, and it was alright, but one week I realized I hadn't seen an episode in three or four weeks and I just didn't have any ambition to catch up, and that's where it sits.
