Like I've said several times now: I concede that cops shoot unarmed black people disproportionately to unarmed white people. That does not translate to them shooting ARMED black people disproportionately to ARMED white people. Conscious or unconscious prejudice could (and does) lead to cops shooting innocent people who are black more frequently than innocent people who are white. It's perfectly reasonable to assume that even based on anecdotal evidence, let alone studies that suggest it. But there are no studies and not much in the way of anecdotal evidence that would amount to more than cherry-picking to suggest that cops generally treat armed black suspects harsher than armed white suspects.
obviously in jest because he's not old enough to drink. That said unless Wisconsin allows people under 21 to be in bars as long as they aren't served alcohol. It's been decades since I lived there so I'm not sure.
His residence is Illinois. In Illinois (and Wisconsin), though, a minor may enter an establishment that serves alcohol if s/he is accompanied by a parent. I believe the person who originally posted that stated which bar that pic was taken, but the place wasn't familiar to me when I read it and so I've long since forgotten it.
wow, if he was with a parent that's pretty fucked up on the part of the parent. When you bond somebody out awaiting their hearing/trial the objective is to keep them out of trouble, not put them in a situation where they could possibly face an escalation of charges. Same with having family members/friends on probation.
She intentionally placed her child in a potentially dangerous situation and handed him an assault weapon. I'm not impressed with her parenting decisions thus far.
Kyle's mom is a 19 year old male? https://www.nbcchicago.com/news/loc...-for-in-first-interview-since-arrest/2366751/
Small world, I was about to ask you the very same question! That said what is your personal definition of an "assault weapon" anyway? It seems everyone has their own opinion about the term.
Please explain how my posts here have been stupid. And, you'll of course demand I do the same about you. So, ... I said "She intentionally placed her child in a potentially dangerous situation and handed him an assault weapon. I'm not impressed with her parenting decisions thus far." and you responded with an attempt at being clever - i.e. stupid, cuz it's so fucking not clever. So, get your head out of your dumb ass.
That's something I came to believe about southern cops. Their real job was to enforce Jim Crow laws. Sad to think that it's the de-facto standard.
Obviously not enough of them to turn around the battleship of social inertia. Some have been co-opted, others have gone along to get along. The armed forces were desegregated by Harry S Truman. Would you argue that all traces of racism have been purged from them. Do you think that their mere presence of black police officers is evidence that there is no longer a problem? That doesn't seem likely given the tenor of your posts on this subject.

I"m not normally inclined to cite things from Buzzfeed, but in this case the story seems very well researched, relies heavily on quotes from people who are willing to put their names on them and reflects an effort to put the issue in proper context. I'm posting some excerpts. The whole article is a long read, but well worth the effort. “When it comes to white supremacist beliefs and ideas like that, the nationwide mentality is to downplay it or overlook it,” said Stanley Jean-Poix, a sergeant in the Miami Police Department and president of the Miami Community Police Benevolent Association, a union that represents around 60 officers, most of them Black. “If you enable certain attitudes and they go unchecked, it turns into a monster.” Longtime officers told BuzzFeed News that the racial and political tensions of the past decade have created a widening divide within police departments. On one side stand officers calling out racism and unnecessarily brutal tactics among their colleagues. On the other are officers who believe their profession has been unfairly targeted by left-wing activists and politicians who fail to grasp the dangers they face on the job; for these officers, Trump emerged as a hero. And when the president called on his supporters to defend him against what he described as a conspiracy to remove him from power, some officers took action. The presence of white supremacist ideology in police departments is as old as law enforcement in the US, and Black officers who spoke to BuzzFeed News said they signed up for the job knowing that some of their colleagues were probably racist. But in their experience, the rise of Trump set back relations between Black and white officers in many departments.
So... How long after Joe Biden' Inauguration will it take for Republicans to start caring about the COVID-19 death toll? I say 2 weeks.
