Humor is protected and it is, or should be, an obvious parody.

Even if it were not, the pretzel compan would have to show damages. You can probably dig up an expert witness about just about anything, but there is probably not a credible one who would say that the parody cost the company an estimated $X.

In short, good luck with that lawsuit.

I'm pretty sure Auntie Anne's was probably approached before the article was published. Heck, for all we know, the Onion and Auntie Anne's may even be owned by the same company.

well, you had what? 14.5 years of FDR and it got you out of a depression, through a war, and left you in a position to lead the world for the next 50 years.

Dana Perino pointed it out yesterday as well - it's the secret service's decision, not the president's.

I mean, obviously there's the question posed of "if Hitler held a Bible in the same pose, would that validate his words and actions in your eyes?"

But if you truly want to interact on the level of numerology logic -- "Look at Hitler holding a Bible just like Trump did, therefore TRUMP IS LITERALLY HITLER" -- then I guess keep to whatever level of thinking your current ideological blinders have worn you down to?

Some of us have spent even more years warning you about the dangers of giving the government - any government - too much power. This is what that looks like.

    Three things:

#1 The left no longer has no sense of humor.

#2 The right no longer has a sense of humor.

#3 How many times have we seen someone post something on social media, it goes viral, everyone believes it, and only later you find out that it was fake? And than the proof it was fake gets no traction? All it takes is people spreading Auntie Anne's wants to shoot protestors without attaching that it's fake and from The Onion to hurt the brand. This is not something that should be joked about. Someone at The Onion took a real company and said it's in favor of shooting "protestors" during a current event that is tearing the country apart.

    Wasn't hit by a flashbang.

Was hit by a tear gas canister that bounced. You can see it hit the ground and bounce into her.

Bull Conner was almost SIXTY YEARS AGO.

How many more decades are People of Color supposed to patiently wait for whites to get the police under control. How many more murders by cop?

It's not that it's better. I'm glad she wasn't hurt but if it was a flashbang that hit her she'd be in a world of hurt.

Also she wasn't aimed at. It just took an unlucky bounce in her direction.

So....is America FINALLY going to take me up on my suggestion of an all minority police force across the board?
I've mentioned it several times. All black might be too exclusive, so maybe all minority groups would suffice.
Bottom line no more white cops. Will it solve every aspect of systemic racism/police brutality? Of course not, but it will take a huge chunk out of it. Never again would a white cop kill a black person, which seems to be the most common trigger (no pun intended) in riots, demonstrations, protests, etc.

This would be especially effective in large Democrat controlled cities. Most Democrat cities already have black mayors and black chief-of-police/sheriff are quite common too. These cities have the most blacks killed by white cops, so it would stand to reason we should start the process in these cities first. Discuss!

I've never doubted it. Where we differ is in terms of specifics, I'm all in favour of limiting the ability of a government to use force.

This is the part where I remind you YET AGAIN that the military is an explicitly authorized Constitutional function of the government. Unlike many (most) of the social welfare programs and interstate regulation.

Yes, it is. The grotesquely overblown US military is also precisely what gives this government way too much power.

Nope. If you look into it, you'll see that the gross overextension of the interstate commerce clause has been the lever used to bloat the fed's overreach. Well, that and switching Senate seats from being state-appointed to popularly elected. The size and capabilities of the military are a direct result of WWII and the Cold War.
