I think you're right, but what's really sad (and telling) about this is that Republican politicians rarely need to tack to the center to promote 'healing' or to combat polarization. It seems that lately, Democrats MUST do this while Republicans can do whatever they damn well please. The last four years have shown a far right conservative can win the Presidency and very nearly hold on to it for a second term. A far right conservative like Trump could conceivably pull a Grover Cleveland in 2024. Name one far left Democrat who could do the same. I can't.

What's really sad and telling is that the Trumpanistas can't distinguish between "far-right conservative" and "opportunistic, narcissistic, slumlord, failed businessman sociopath."

Because I have no monopoly on the future, but it doesn't seem likely that a lot of the people who are convinced that there is widespread fraud at the moment are ever going to be convinced by things like actual evidence or common sense (the Democrats would have to be the worst. riggers. ever. to fix the vote for Biden in GA but allow both Senate races to go to a run-off, for example.)

Even if there is some massive realization that Trump con them, that is going to leave lasting wounds.

And Trump has provided a playbook for someone who is less over-the-top transparently incompetent to make these kinds of baseless claims and naked power grabs.

Last I checked, we had a volunteer military. No-one's service is being compelled.
